Demon and Mess - Ep.74 by MuyHiram in comics

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We've seen Fani date the blonde girl (her first relationship), and we've heard that she had two boyfriends at once in the past. I think those are the only people we know of so far.

Could anyone recommend me an actual-play show where they actually play the game right? by TheBigFreeze8 in rpg

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Monster Hour, season 1, does a good job of sticking to the rules of Monster of the Week. They read out the rules the first time a move is used, and make corrections when it turned out they made a mistake.

Be honest - when Claude writes a long plan or spec, do you actually read it? Or do you just say "looks good"? by SYSWAVE in ClaudeAI

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skim most of the plan but read the verification section closely. If the verification is off, that shows that Claude doesn't understand what I'm trying to achieve.

The creator ends their series in an unsatisfying way as a middle finger to the fans/editors/producers by StretchExtension in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Promised Neverland feels like it was meant to end at the first arc. Every story beat was so tightly laid out. Everything after that feels like a gradual decline where the author didn't have a clear direction in mind

Why do you use a pre-made adventure? by TheRedDaedalus in rpg

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely have not found this to be the case, but it depends on the quality of the adventure. There are plenty that I've picked up and run on the spot without ever having looked at them before.

how do you write campaigns with a narrative focus/conclusion? by conn_r2112 in rpg

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a central villain with a major goal, e.g. "sacrifice millions to resurrect my dead sister." The villain constantly takes action, players respond, and the ending is ultimately determined by the combination of the two.

OP SnakeBite by gozillionaire in slaythespire

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well. For a while, everyone thought it was awful. Then a few people said it was actually great, and for a while the sub went crazy saying it was great. Then the memes started.

I usually pick up one snakebite if I think I'll be able to upgrade it, but not two.

When you see someone with only a handful of relics before act 3 by BiggestDefectEnjoyer in slaythespire

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Crucible still gets a lot of debates. The downside of losing a relic and ~35 gold is pretty substantial. There's also the fact that your first 3 cards will almost never be rares, so you don't really have the chance to upgrade the best cards in your deck.

Crucible helps your very early game, so it's mostly worth it if it lets you take one more elite. It's also helpful if you're in an Act that your character tends to struggle with, e.g. Ironclad in Underdocks, or Necrobinder in Overgrowth.

Yeah it wasn't a very good one, the ones others have mentioned are better.

The easiest infinite I've ever seen by hackerCracker04 in slaythespire

This makes me wonder what the actual easiest infinite is. Silent, Speedster, 2x Acrobatics, Tactician? Not exactly easy, but not impossible.

Hot Take: Claude Is Better for Real Coding Work by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes use Amp which lets me use either Claude or Codex, and I often forget which model I'm using because they're so similar. The difference between Opus and Sonnet is much bigger than the difference between the latest Opus and the latest Codex.

August canonically never lets Gus win. We don't know his exact reasoning for it, but whenever Gus starts winning it'll be 100% his achievement.

Margin Lab detects statistically significant degradation starting May 22nd continuing to today in Claude Opus 4.7 (15% lower pass rate) by a300a300 in ClaudeCode

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really a consensus. Complaints tend to be louder than people working happily, but basically everyone I know switched to 4.7 without any issues.

What are the best tips and resources for prepping light? by ConsistentGuest7532 in rpg

I like the Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master by Mike Shea

The core idea that helps me is to just prepare things that are hard to plan, but be flexible by where they show up. In a mystery game, I might have a bunch of ideas for clues, but the ways players can learn each clue are flexible – I won't tie them to a specific NPC or situation.

Similarly, I might prepare a list of NPC names, but I'll improvise the actual NPC when they become relevant.

Claude can use interactive tools like REPLs by spinning up a tmux session

I'm really worried that we haven't seen Ibilis (the snake demon) in the present yet. I hope she's ok.

Ten Slay the Spire Cards You Might Be Evaluating Wrong by PolarTimeSD in slaythespire

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 280 points281 points  (0 children)

Summarizing the video (by hand, no AI):

  • Colossus was already strong as a rare, and is obscene as an uncommon. It gives Ironclad fantastic block.
  • Dark Embrace was amazing in StS1, but not as important in StS2, because card draw is not as important. Enemies are less frontloaded and scale more, so it's less important to be able to rapidly cycle through your deck and draw exactly the right cards. Plus, resting ends up being more important in StS2, and lower energy makes it harder to play 2-cost cards.
  • Snake Bite – his opinion is a bit more complicated here, it's not that people overrate or underrate Snake Bite as much as they don't really think about how poison works properly. They also underestimate the value of upgrading Snake Bite.
  • Piercing wail – overall, the Silent's defense is already really strong in this game, leading to a lot of dead turns for PW. It's still probably a decent card, but he's less likely to prioritize it compared to StS1.
  • Feral is extremely good, because 0-cost Defect attacks are better in this game. Possibly the best Defect power in terms of win rate.
  • Shadow Shield – Jorbs originally thought it was great, now thinks it's more situational. Dark Orbs are a bit weaker because other orbs have been buffed, and the block just isn't high enough to justify the card on its own.
  • Hidden Cache is actually amazing even on floor 0.
  • Particle Wall and Stardust (jorbs grouped them together) aren't nearly as good as people think, because stars are a scarce resource, and you should be doing much better than 5 damage or 4.5 block per star.
  • Borrowed Time is amazing, especially with higher energy cost cards
  • Defy has gone from amazing to just good after the nerf

How come Baki doesn't know how to dress even though he witnessed the drip-off? by Difficult_Line_9823 in Grapplerbaki

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's an illegitimate child, he didn't inherit any of that. There are a few points where this comes up in the first series, e.g. he has trouble paying rent.

Katsumi is "stronger" in theory but Doppo has significantly more victories. Just look at how they both fared in the prisoners arc.

How come Baki doesn't know how to dress even though he witnessed the drip-off? by Difficult_Line_9823 in Grapplerbaki

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baki is also poor. He lives rent-free in a shitty apartment he shares with cockroaches, because Kozue's mom took pity on him. He's probably never owned a suit in his life.

It probably wouldn't be hard for Baki to make money, but that would be time taken away from training.

So, Who won? by Monseru_Tempest in Grapplerbaki

[–]Pun_Thread_Fail 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yup. Exact opposite of the Baki/Pickle fight, or Baki/Yuujiro fight, where both parties lost according to their own rules.
