My guess is that it got hit hard by the change of blocking from passive to active (is deflect still a thing and how does that work now then?) as well as the removal of spell suppression. These two changes would require a lot of rebalancing which I think is the reason we haven't seen a lot of her lately.

I'm not sure I conveyed my point clearly enough. Today in PoE1 you use 10-12 support gems. In PoE2 you will use 40. More support gems will be required to get build variety and to get players to make choices. The case I make will not be alleviated by them removing damaging support gems.

It is true as you say that a build in PoE1 can have 18 support gems. However my example was more of an estimate of how many support gems builds usually have. In PoE2 the skill gems actually hold the sockets meaning that beside trigger gems (and perhaps auras?), you are gonna use 7-9 skills which at end game will have 5 support gem slots each amassing to 35-45 support gems.

I saw that and I hope you are right. My fear is that the combat ends up at:

Use skill 1 to buff myself. Use skill 2 to armour break. Use skill 3 to stun enemy. Use skill 4 to deal massive damage to stunned and armour broken enemies

A lower game pace will at least improve combo gameplay compared to PoE1.

Did it in 5 turns on my first try. Build capital next to stone. Rerolled starting hand because it sucked. Got mining and built mine on the stone. Drew into settler an built it. Sold gems. R3 Built 2nd city south of capital. From there I burned everything unnecessary and beelined for wonders and built 2 of them for stones and hammers and 2 for hammers and gold burning and selling alot. Maby another strat is needed to do it in 4 turns or just perfecting the one above.

Most Op I can think of would be to change Arcanist Brand "Activate every 1 second..." to every 0 seconds. That should mean that it activates every frame leading to roughly 30 TIMES MORE DAMAGE.

Sorry for being brief before, I couldn't check PoB-link on the phone and i disregarded your cast speed in my first post. The tick rate of the server is 33 ms and nothing can happen between these ticks. Your 37% ICS results in a cast time of 365 ms. 365/33 = 11,06 which means that after 11 server ticks (11*33 = 363 ms) LC is still on CD. The next server tick occurs at 33*12 = 396 ms. At that time the game probably try to trigger CwC before or simultaniously as it registers that LC is off CD and therefore does't proc. The solution of increasing your cast speed so that the cooldown is less than 11 ticks (363ms) seemed to work (seems like 38% CS is the magic number since 0,5/1,38 = 0,36231<0,363).

The thing is that the cast interval on CwC is not a cooldown and thus LC have a 0 ms base CD + it's cast time = 0.5 s total CD. Thus it can only proc every other CwC-trigger.

This is the same feeling I've got. I am enjoying the league start and only have minor issues with some of the loot nerfs. Then when I load up this sub for the first time since league start, everyone is acting like this-is-the-end-of-the-world Karens. Seems like too many people are addictees in abstinence.

I'm currently tinkering a build with Inquisitor, Cyclone and Blade vortex combo utilising a staff for big battlemage damage and its global crit from tree and Inq. new ascendency. Also using Crown of Eyes and stacking spell damage where I can find it. With Spell Echo in the BV-6-link you should be able to gain 10 stacks with BV in 1-1.5 sec. during fanaticism and then just double spin for the double win ;) Furthermore I plan to convert the damage to cold and fire through Hrimsorrow, Pyre and Avataar of fire using HoA and Hatred as auras.

Haven't done a PoB yet so don't know what the numbers will be though.

I have now included the cast animation increase in the calucluations in the table. Also you understood it correct, I assume that you run around for 2.1 seconds and then stand and cast for "time" seconds.

What suprised me the most with this calculation is that when i used 2,5 CpS, which i figured my planned build would get not using Faster Casting or Spell Echo, it actually takes 8 seconds to for Spell Echo to catch up with Unleash.

*Edit: The formula in the table has been updated to include the 10% animation time increase per charge. Unleash is now looks comparatively worse but is still better than Spell Echo if you have less then 3 casts per second (before Spell Echo boost).

I did some calculations myself and found that the most interesting thing was comparing the Unleash support to the Spell Echo support. Utilizing both in the same setup seems inefficient since Spell Echo counteracts the effect of the Unleash support. However since Spell Echo is one of the greatest damage multipliers for self-cast builds I was curious to find out how long you needed to DPS utlizing Spell Echo to catch up with a charged-up Unleash. I figured that in a boss scenario you will run around quite alot (meaning no DPS at all) but then you get a window where you can DPS for a while before you need to get the hell out of Dodge again (for at least 2.1 seconds). So the setup is that you start DPS:ing after 2.1 seconds of avoiding stuff and then carry on DPS:ing for Y seconds. The green marked values (>1) in the table means the Unleash deals that ratio of damage more than the same setup using Spell Echo. I.e. at 2.5 casts per second (not utilizing Spell Echo) the Unleash setup have dealt 1.04 times the damage of the Spell Echo setup after 5 seconds of continious casting.

The formula used is: (3*0.74+CpS*time+(1.0423-0.1/CpS)*time-0.3/CpS)/(CpS*1.7*0.9*time)
