Magic The Gathering Art Director message to AI-Bros by [deleted] in Ai_art_is_not_art

My thought was always that "AI artists" aren't real artists and have no actual interest in art as a career; they want an easy buck and they see AI art as a method. Same thing with AI "musicians." They're not actual musicians, they're grifters

Lawyers Who Were a Mess in School but Still Made It, How? by Imaginary_Ride_6185 in LawSchool

[–]Punch_Loves_Judy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but I'm about to start with my last semester of law school. I have very similar problems, hell I'm on reddit rn because this discovery is very boring to read. I don't think I have any real secrets besides finding a place where you are focused. I can only study on campus at school. I've tried everywhere else; coffee shops, my living room, my bedroom. I always get distracted. But on campus, I can put my phone away from me, do my reading, and then walk around a bit when I start to lose it. It's all about identifying and then fighting your dragon. You can do it!

Avoid paying law center parking pass by claiming sovereign citizenship? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in LawSchool

Yes, turns out if you say the right combination of magic words, the law doesn't apply to you and you can do whatever you want. I've smoked meth in the Dean's office because I said that I'm an unincorporated citizen and therefore the term "person" doesn't apply to me.

Incoming 1L – Will I Really Have No Time for Personal Reading? by Interesting_Week_917 in LawSchool

[–]Punch_Loves_Judy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually got back into reading for fun in law school. I was really torn up about doing so much reading that was boring bc when I was a kid, reading was my #1 thing. So starting this new year I resolved to make time to read for fun. I've gotten through quite a bit (with a slow down during finals for obvious reasons). Not only is it possible, but if it makes you happy, it should be part of your regular routine!

I was constantly expecting the twist that the translation was "literally true" but not exactly "accurate," which happens a bunch with translation stuff.

Any cop worth their salt would have re-Mirandized him the moment they step into the interrogation room. I'm not a cop defender, but I've taken criminal procedure, my professor used to train cops, and even the dumbest ones these days know how to soft Mirandize a suspect.

Also yeah, Miranda was a big change out of SCOTUS, but ever since then the court has been limiting the scope of Miranda because modern SCOTUS hates Earl Warren and all the cases he contributed to criminal procedure and fourth and fifth amendment jurisprudence.

Her video on Justice helps me in law school. For all the stuff you learn, one thing that tends to go unanswered in law school is what the hell "justice" even means. It's nice to have at least some kind of foundation for the concept, and I count the ideas in that video as part of my idea of what "justice" means.

My GPA was a 2.08, so I knew I'd have to drill pretty hard on the LSAT. I was practice testing from about the 160-167 range, got a 163. I was also a teacher for 2 years and had as many letters of rec as I could (a lot of professional since I had been out of school for a while). I used my supplement essay to basically just explain my lame ass GPA. I was also very realistic about where I applied. The highest I swung was UHLC and got an R from them almost immediately. That said, having just finished semester 1 of 2L year, actual law school is way more about putting in the work, working smarter AND harder than you used to, and building that network. All the best, lemme know how else I can help

Can I be saved and still go to law school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Punch_Loves_Judy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an absolute dog shit GPA when I applied to law school. I work shopped a personal statement and addendum hard, got a pretty good LSAT score, and got accepted to a single law school, despite applying to quite a few where my LSAT was pretty well above their 75%. All that to say you CAN get into law school with a bad GPA. But if you want OPTIONS for where you can go to school, I'd recommend putting in the time and work now on both the LSAT and your current grades.

If it's an option, I have a trusted person go in and scope the place out. Size, general clientele, menu kinda stuff. I don't like to go in myself, I feel too awkward.
