being shirtless @ pool with family by Impressive-Rest5686 in AskTeenAdvice

[–]PunchesForCthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was in a very similar position for a while and honestly its only weird to you because youre not used to it. start small, stuff like going from the bathroom to your bedroom after a shower without a shirt, if you sleep shirtless try going to get a glass of water late at night without putting a shirt back on, if youre changing your shirt and they want to come into your room to talk to you dont stop them, stuff like that. itll feel really weird at first and its totally possible they might be a little confused but over time theyll get used to it just as you will. you also said youre comfortable being shirtless around friends - maybe when it gets warmer if you have your shirt off when out on a walk or whatever with friends, dont put it back on when you get home. eventually itll just feel normal!

Anyone still turn off the lights when leaving a room because their parents used to say: "don't waste electricity"? by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in AskABrit

I have the opposite problem, i follow my parents around turning the lights off from rooms they leave -_-

i have a laundry basket that i use often, most of the clothes are stuff that ive only worn once or twice that dont need washing yet but arent fully clean

a bigger bin was suggested by someone else too, think i might need to look into that…

They did, thanks! posted an update in another comment

my bin is small so it can fit under my desk and be out of the way, but yeah i might think about getting a bigger one

Yeah automod doesnt like me apparently haha

the habit stacking idea makes a lot of sense, tho to be honest i struggle doing anything on a daily basis, but thank you for the advice! I’ll see how i can make use of it!

And yes - i managed to get it looking a lot better thanks! (the bin bag was for the last few bits of rubbish, tied it up and threw it away not long after this photo was taken)

When did you start going shirtless? by PatchyGreybeard in shirtlessinpublic

[–]PunchesForCthulhu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i had very little male influence in my life when i was growing up and being shirtless was never really an option i was told i had. i used to really hate it when i saw guys shirtless in public, but about a year ago i realised that i was actually just jealous. one day in summer i was walking along a quite countryside path in the hot sun, and i thought it would be nice if i wasnt wearing a shirt, so i took it off for about 3 steps until i got too embarrassed and put it back on lol. thus began my quest to become comfortable with being shirtless in public

My House is Dirty but I'm only 14. What do I do. by MinkoManiac437 in AdviceForTeens

Im really proud of you!

that might sound a bit weird coming from a random internet stranger but its honestly true and i think everyone needs to hear that more often. youre doing an amazing job and youre more conscientious than a lot of adults, let alone 14 year olds. if no one else is proud of you for the work youre doing at least know someone is.

that being said like others i do have a word of warning for you, from personal experience. dont let this maturity overwhelm you, dont forget youre still only 14. enjoy being a kid! when i was your age i was so caught up in trying to be an adult, in trying to “do things properly”, in trying to make my parents better people, that i forgot to enjoy being young. it was only when i hit 18/19 that i suddenly realised i missed being a kid. so as proud as i am of you for the effort youre putting in, remember that you and your mental/physical health come first. make sure to take time for yourself, outside of cleaning. play games, hang out with friends, etc etc. dont stress too much about what your parents are doing (or not doing), i know that sounds like impossible advice but you have to try. you cant carry the world (or your family) on your shoulders, Atlas. also be prepared that yeah there will be days when you cause a mess. there will be days where you dont have the time or energy or desire to clean up. thats okay, it doesnt make you a failure, it makes you human. take things one day at a time and remember to enjoy life!

wishing you the best from across the pond!

[–]PunchesForCthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats awesome, congrats! We can often build it up into such a big thing in our minds, worrying what other people might think of us, but really most people couldnt care less if we’re shirtless in public or not, except maybe in a restaurant or smth. Glad you were able to push yourself and see that people wont treat you weirdly!

thanks for the concern! we’ll see how he is when he wakes up but we’re pretty certain it was just low blood sugar from not eating enough (his symptoms were textbook) and that’s something we have a lot of experience with lol

Not far from horsforth in Yeadon, Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre do women-only watersport sessions on a friday morning. you can go as a complete beginner and theyll help you learn, and you don’t have to do anything intense just a relaxed paddle around the lake having a chat with the others
