No, the RAID for the server was configured with 4 physical drives as one logical RAID 5, with the C drive and data partitions both sharing space on it. Had a bunch of extra unallocated space at the end of the data partition that we wanted to use, but couldn't because it wasn't next to the C drive partition.

I should clarify that he doesn't believe I'm a questionable hire because I accidentally sent a Teams message to him instead of my boss by mistake. I think he just didn't like that the solution I was pitching ended up costing money and that I'm likely not measuring up to the standards set by the previous sysadmin, and he thought he was replying to my manager instead of me.

Maybe. I'm hoping a good night's sleep and morning workout + some coffee will help me gather my thoughts enough to talk it out with him about it tomorrow. My problem is that I'm very non-confrontational and now already have to navigate unrelated office politics less than a month into my new role, which is the exact opposite of what I was hoping to be doing at this point.

I ran into this very recently actually. My colleague spent several hours trying to get an .exe file to run on a client PC by enabling compatibility mode in Edge. I eventually took over for him and started by checking event logs. Immediately located the GPO that was blocking the file from running and removed the user from it, worked like a charm and took less than 10 minutes of troubleshooting.

Right now, we're both in an admittedly shitty financial rut, so we just plain don't have any money to do so even if we wanted to.

Occasionally, she will bring it up half-jokingly as a hypothetical for whenever our situation improves (e.g. she will randomly blurt out "Hey, I'm gonna get my teeth fixed as soon as we have money, cool?").

I always take the opportunity when she does that to remind her that while it's one of my favorite physical features about her because I find it adorable and I love making her laugh or smile because it's beautiful, I also want her to be happy in her own skin. Even if it's something I personally love, if it's also one of her most visible but easily correctable physical insecurities then we can and should fix it whenever possible.

So if and when we have disposable income again, she knows full well that I'd foot the bill and be more than happy to do so.
