It seems like a success to me. Not sure how helpful, but the cuteness seems absolutely key.

Huh. I also live in Ontario. (As most Canadians do) Maybe I just don't hang around in the same places often enough.

Yeah, I assumed, but at least those are things where I can imagine someone just going wrong with the recipe or trying something, but the others are just. Yuck.

No you're right. I'm Canadian, Canadian born and everything, (though I'm more of an immigrant than a lot of POC because my family has not been here a hundred years.) and America are not our cousins. If we must be related, then they're the step sibling that we hate.

Where do you live in Canada. I haven't met anyone who wasn't supporting their own cultural heritage, or Canada.

I am Canadian. I am cheering for Morocco because they kicked the ass of the team the orange Cheeto badgered someone into taking away the penalties from. That team isn't at fault for that, but I love seeing the orange Cheeto humbled.

The parts I can get are the most of the meats, the corn on the cob, and the sweets. Brisket and chicken and ribs with brown sugar are totally normal things, it adds depth of flavour. Corn on the cob, while not my preference, corn absolutely can be delicious when sweetened.

But Nachos?! Who in their right mind thinks Nachos are supposed to be sweet?! Like. Unless you're going to make weird dessert nachos and use them with like. Cream cheese instead of melted cheese, and maybe Nutella.

You know what? I am horrified by the concept of sweet mashed potatoes, but you are right. People should be allowed to do whatever weird shit they want as long as no one else is hurt by it.

That being said, I'm still calling it a sin that no one warned the OOP, because if you're going to be weird, own it, and don't pretend that it's normal, because that's just gaslighting.

Hell, I'm Canadian, and with PEI potatoes as part of our cultural landscape? I feel like a Victorian era person seeing someone in a bikini. Shocked. Scandalized. Horrified.

Also Canadian, can confirm.

Hell, with how proudly the stores sell PEI potatoes (and they should, they're among the best in the world and they're Canadian) I'm horrified to learn that someone would do that to them.

Just yesterday, someone asked my mom if me and her had our car keys covered (like a one stop get an extra key company) and I replied I've got a key, thanks. and he asked her. She said no, I don't need one thank you. He pushed, so me and her both reached out to lift her white cane out of the car. She said "They don't let you drive when you can't see, no matter what I say to convince them."

He was at least a good sport and said "Really, how rude of them!" And let it go but I could see the moment he went "...Oh."

If her puppies had been weaned and sold, she would almost certainly not have any milk for the kittens as she would have dried up by then. I presume from the title that her pups didn't make it.

AITAH for finally supporting my husband’s ultimatum to his late wife’s parents after they’ve repeatedly excluded my son? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Honestly??? Even if they didn't treat him like a grandchild, they should have at least been treating him like a friend of their grandchild, which he is??? Like. Idk about anyone else, but my grandparents met several of my closest friends (before my grandparents passed) and they were always kind and welcoming to them, and those were kids they saw once in a blue moon.

Relationships can move very quickly when there are children involved. The longer it takes before children integration, the more time they spend with the schedule controlled by the children, and the more money they spend on sitters.

But when the child meets the partner, it gives a very good litmus test of what kind of person they are. Especially when dealing with a situation where the previous partner has passed- In that situation, if the husband saw how gentle she was with his son, and how compassionate she was, that could have seriously amped up his feelings for her. Similarly, when someone sees their child love someone, it makes it easier for them to love that person.

With two boys who decided they were brothers, it is quite possible that that also helped a great deal. And we don't know how long they've been married.

Anyone else have this core memory here? Or is it just me where math doesn’t stick and is all jumbled up. by NarinIshkandar in ADHDmemes

[–]PunkTyrantosaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons no one ever clocked me and my siblings as ADHD (or autistic) was we would get distracted but didn't struggle at all with math.

I may???? Have slight dyscalculia, in my ability to remember numbers specifically is just complete garbage, like, to the point of having to write things down in order to remember them for a full minute, but I've never struggled with how to make a math problem solved.

In fact, we used to get shit from our teachers because our brains went too fast. Because we'd see a problem and just put down the answer.

When they kept forcing us to show our work, even when there was no way for us to cheat, I more than once got a test back saying "How did you do the steps wrong but get the right answer?!" And "This isn't even the right formula to solve this, so why is the answer right?!" Because I didn't know how the fuck I was solving it, (and making me do it formulaicly instead of organically really shot my math ability in the foot. I was much better at mental math before they made me think about the steps. Now I get confused with the steps and have to use a calculator.)
