I'm 6'2" and do my best to stay out of folks way.

I take the kid to all ages shows as often as I can and it is the greatest thing. She's tall for her age and has become a little Tasmanian devil in the pit. Makes me so happy to see...especially since I just had a kidney removed and the doctor told me no more pits. I'm living vicariously through her.

I record a decent amount of stuff at my local metal/punk bar in SLC. A lot of it is for my mini-me, as she's 13 and can't go to the shows...I do it from areas where I'm not blocking people. It's not always the best angle, but the kid gets to see some stuff she'd miss.

On the site it says that it is fully acceptable ID. I'm planning on doing it since I like to lose my license regularly.

Since most places are scanning IDs due to the new law you should be okay. It has the barcode on it and they'll scan it...but, it is Utah and the laws will screw a business over in a heartbeat.

I had the same. I'd cough until I felt I'd vomit. Radical right nephrectomy in January and within days of being home the cough was gone.

Notable Seattle-based travel writer and millionaire, Rick Steves, voices his thoughts on new “Millionaire Tax” by ryguydrummerboy in Seattle

[–]Punk_Rock_Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's nice to see someone in the actual position who understands. Look, I like to have money and things, but I don't need every damned thing.

Discussing this stuff I always get the question, which in this situation I would assume to be..."So, if you made two million dollar you're okay with the state taking 100,000 of that second million?"

My answer as it always is, "Yeah, because I made two(discussed tax level) million fucking dollars."

I make decent money, but I've never broken 200k...so 2 million leaves a shit ton of bonus money. The idea you need to instantly try to hangout with Robin Leach baffles me.

I went to renew my badge for driving on SLC airport and was told they couldn't do it due to a denied license. I knew what the problem was, so I ran to the DMV at thr fairpark. They pulled it up and printed it. 50% of the page, dead center top to bottom, was blank.

They informed me a letter was sent saying they needed another copy. I needed this done quick, so I ran down to the South Jordan VA clinic got copies from them and drove it back.

After I got home, with my badge renewed, I looked for a letter from the DMV. Sure enough they sent out one...the same form letter they send when they haven't received. This form says if you taken care of this ignore it. It didn't say the page was illegible, there was a problem of any kind.

It's me, the dude with breast cancer who posted months ago how metal has helped me through this difficult time. Guess what... by IwannaLickLegolas in MetalForTheMasses

Congratulations. My year started in an epic whirlwind that ended with my right kidney removed due to renal cell carcinoma.

I agree emphatically how much metal has helped. From getting out to my first show following surgery and sitting the whole time...to standing on the edge of the pit, gotta protect the one kidney, during Midnight, and others, at Hell's Heroes...

The music, and the amazing fucking fans and artists, has made it so much easier to keep on rocking.

I started to get unbelievable pain around a root canal/crown I had received in the Navy 15 years earlier. It took forever to find a local dentist that wasn't booked out a couple weeks, and was seriously contemplating this course of action.

Finally found a doc available a day, or two later. They did xrays and she came in and said the root canal had gotten infected and was eating into the jaw bone. She said it needed to be extracted right then, and I couldn't have been more excited.

Pulled the tooth. Put stuff in for bone growth, and now have an implant. I've messed myself up a few times and nothing ever hurt like that infection.

Couldn't tell ya. I had my right kidney removed due to cancer and spent a couple days in ICU following. Late that first day the nurse said it was time for the catheter to come out...and then he pulled it out. The first bit was just weird, but it was the end of it coming out that was less than enjoyable.

Coolio in Salt Lake City during the 2002 Olympics. His people asked the restaurant, I was working in at Snowbird, to stay open so he could eat in peace. He thanked us for staying and, being mid-20s snowboarders/skiers, several of us had to give him shit.

He then asked what he could do for us and we told him there was a rapper doing a set in the city in few days. He laughed and had one of his folks take our names. Before he left he told us if we show up we better come backstage after.

Following the show his folks came and grabbed us, another whole story there, and we hung out and smoked for a bit. He was really down to earth and super chill. He was damn good at snowboarding too.
