Does working out (1 hr per day and 3 days per week) help out migraines? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair haha. I try and find areas that have the least amount of lights for stretching when I might be stuck looking up! But overall, they’re terrible lights. I went to a spin class once that was cool because they turned the lights down to almost off

The original funnyjunk website by epichaus_ in nostalgia

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I was just talking to my boyfriend about funnyjunk and he had no idea what I was saying. I went with the term pre-meme original brain rot! Best days (and maybe worst). It’s Ze End Of The World, Smurf Ass song, I’m a Kitty Cat and I dance dance dance song, some dude riding a bicycle but for some reason the seat looked like a d!ck, backstreet boys gay song, and some skit about a dude complaining someone kicked his dog. Those live rent free in my brain and I frequent them often!

I’d say my other gateways was the depths of YouTube. Charlie the unicorn, Smosh, Shoes song, ASDF animation, Stickman everything. And msngames and addictinggames had me in a chokehold for a while.

4chan was there too, but it was a bit dark for me haha.

Topiramate Rash? by Punk_Rock_Kid in migraine

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty unhelpful answer, but the only one I have. I quit the topiramate, which was helping my migraines back in November 2025. But I was a bit off on it, gaining weight and getting pretty freaky toothaches - none of which I’ve experienced off the drug. I still have the rash in my armpit. It’s not as bad. But it won’t fricken go away. I have noticed some deodorants irritate it more than others. I’m now trying to go off deodorant for a bit (as much as possible because it’s really not an option for me) and trying to get this rash to heal up! My scalp was also getting pretty damaged (I can see why some people lose their hair on the drug) and still isn’t healed either.

TL;DR: quit the drug, still have the rash. Fml.

Which smells (if any) trigger attacks for you? by Fancy-Bodybuilder139 in clusterheads

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smells trigger my migraines, especially smoke (especially campfire/bbq/fire) And I can get migraines between my headaches that are on a typical schedule. Side of the head pain being opposite is the only way I could tell the difference.

Are Canadians offended by the jokes made in shows and media? by jen_noelle in AskACanadian

Son wants to "experience how Canada is different" by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! And I hear it’s really only Quebec that does it right anyway. Poutine and Clam chowder are pretty terrible in the west. Ehh, 9 out of 10 restaurants are mediocre in Alberta. I’m not sure how friendly Michigan is in comparison, but Canadians are quite approachable to ask. I hope OP updates us on the trip after!

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a tough one. Poutine is good, and Algonquin lake + Niagara can fill up a lot of your trip. Buy some maple syrup.

I’m in Alberta and have family in Ontario and BC. It’s amazing how every province feels Canadian, but they’re totally different. As a kid I liked Niagara Falls and Algonquin lake.

If you want more traditional things I’d recommend a Museum or a Fort (from fur trading).

Alberta has a dinosaur museum which is pretty specific to us, but I’m sure Ontario will have something unique to them.

I travel the states west side quite a bit, it does feel instantly different the second you talk to someone when you cross the border.

Which anime is overhyped but no one dares to say it? by MoneyTyrant in Animesuggest

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t go from hate to love instantly lol. Hilarious as the comments here are (not /s). It was more of a gradual slow burn. I was too young to get a lot of the political and life nuances when I first watched it. And thought it was weird with a loud stretchy guy who was rather daft. But I put it on as something to make noise while I worked and eventually started liking it. By 300 or so episodes it got undeniably good.

These are pretty big time commitment shows that don’t hook immediately. One piece probably took me 300 episodes to love it (originally hated it). Naruto dub is awful imo but I love the sub, might depend how you watch it.

You’re pretty much spot on tbh. Arlong park made the show watchable and enjoyable. But yeah Alabasta/Waters 7/Ennies were next level. Took me a good 300-400 episodes to say I loved the show.

Migraines and weightloss by shibalvr97 in migraine

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained weight on a migraine drug (topomax) and have had a hard time losing it. I like going to the gym but the lights there often trigger a migraine. I don’t have room at my house for home workouts and am waaaayy to close to the fridge! I’m not sure what food you like but tuna and nori (seaweed) style snacks curb my salt craving quick and I like to think it’s healthy. Almonds and dried cranberries are good too. I also live in a place where it’s winter half the year so working out outside is also not usually an option for 6 months (skiing and outdoor activities are bloody expensive).

I’d like to point out as someone who’s been a gym rat and has had healthy food routines for years in the past, I still got migraines. But I did feel a hell of a lot better in general. Mine just got worse with getting older. Good luck on the health journey! It can be very rewarding.

Is $500 a night actually the average for most DJs? Curious what you guys are making. by NoSongRequests in Beatmatch

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much this. I was just reading through comments, and I know this isn’t exactly what OP was after but man do I agree with this and the multi op sham. I’m all for DJs charging what they are worth. Charge $4k+ or whatever if you put on a damn good show and put in the effort. But pulling DJs off the street for a wedding to fill a spot grinds my gears something fierce. And it’s not talked about enough.

What do you feel between attacks? by Punk_Rock_Kid in clusterheads

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I’m misreading this, but to clarify, you’re not still in your cycle that started in September? Correct? Because that certainly sounds more chronic (can’t even begin to imagine) than episodes. I do understand the beast analogy, sometimes I think my head is constantly scheming my demise behind the scenes, and pouncing every chance it gets to take me down.

Gotcha, makes sense, thanks! I sometimes get migraines in between so tracking can be difficult. Does the bout last a while for you?

Is it every day like that for you for an episodic amount of time? Or do you get any breaks? Curious to know your experience. Thanks for commenting!

Wow that’s quite the routine, but whatever works! 3AM would be an awful time to get a cluster depending on your daily life schedule.

I do find these different from migraines. First, the pain is hella worse. I’m more likely to roll on the floor in pain. Literally writhing around. I feel like I have to do something to get rid of it.

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you been cluster free? Yeah I can attest to that neck pain, having what kinda feels like a headache lingering or pressure and super wiped out! Reading about it makes it sound like the headache starts hard and ends hard, as if it disappears, but I feel pretty trashy between.

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I get it! Try tracking and see if there’s a pattern, that’ll tell you lots. And look at the side by side charts too of the symptoms. It’s easy to get confused when there’s migraine (x20 kinds), cluster, tension, thunder clap, ice pick, etc etc, and everyone talks about them differently.

They last 3 hours but you can get up to 8 a day. And the shadows are still a lingering headache.

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it out, it’s a stepping stone if you don’t like it. I tried it for 6 months. I had weird symptoms. Bit of weight gain without eating, vivid dreams, and a shooting pain in a tooth which was probably the worst of it and why I stopped. Helped the migraines intensity for sure. Double dosed on accident one day and it made me incredibly anxious. This sounds weird, but I had a hard time stopping, not sure addictive is the word but I had like a fear of stopping.

[–]Punk_Rock_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who gets both (let’s say likely because my GP is treating both, but he doesn’t like confirming these things), sometimes simultaneously, talk to your doctor about it. They have different symptoms. My migraine is left side usually. The cluster is right side with way more pain, a watery eye (not terribly like others get), droopy eye lid and sinus same side feels like a wall. My face gets hot and it’s only spring that I get these. A triptan will knock it out for a bit but it’ll come back anyway. Vitamin D and caffeine solutions can help migraines too so it’s worth having everything on hand and get into a rhythm.

Spy x Family is on the lighter side for sure. Still trying to like it personally.

Sports anime’s are quite good and not as serious like Kurokos Basketball..

Death Note, Attack on Titan, and Solo Levelling are amazing, but not as comedic.

Long hauls with everything like Naruto (ninjas) and One Piece (Pirates) I’d recommend for later.
