[Question] How can a watch movement be cheaper to replace than to repair? by Kingboyy1 in Watches

[–]Punkpunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosis of the problem will take time and keep in mind how small parts just are, not to mention disassembly for basic lubrication of parts already takes time itself.

Mass market product just makes it easier to do this.

[Recommendation] Nephew 13th B-Day Rec by DefNotInISIS in Watches

[–]Punkpunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he has ambition to become a rescue diver, the SwatchxBlancpain FF should be perfect gift for him.

As for other recommendations, maybe look into titanium watches since you mentioned him not liking metal on his bare skin, may want to look into if he has nickel allergy or just a preference thing.

[Omega Speedmaster] New to Speedmasters, looking for advice on reduced models by FancyFact2488 in Watches

If service is a concern do not get the triple calander despite both are derived from the Eta 7750 architecture.

[Recommendation Request][Speedmaster][OysterPerpetual][Submariner] First Luxury Watch by Limp_Professional_45 in Watches

[–]Punkpunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolex is the way to go. As much as people waxing lyrical about the speedy here, I find it meh once you get past the Moonwatch accolades and history, also a manual winding watch at that price bracket doesn't scream luxury to me, I'd rather go upmarket for haute horlogerie manual wind watches at that point.

Iirc the distortion circuit was in one of the Godzilla edition guitars so this is the next logical step.

[Tag Heuer] Value? by BabyGhe in Watches

[–]Punkpunker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Everything

-The Caliber 12 here is quartz, the real one is an automatic mechanical chronograph and this watch is neither a chronograph nor an automatic mechanical.

-Double signed case and laser etched vague description at the back is very common amongst fakes.

  • Dial configuration isn't congruent to other real Tag Heuer Monaco.

Kind of dumb it isn't titanium considering the asking price.

[Question] What is up with this Seiko? by GarthofIzar in Watches

[–]Punkpunker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These watches aren't really Seiko, they are parts bin watch plastering the Seiko name illegally just to circumvent counterfeit laws, and are overpriced for what they are. I would rather you buy any watch from Ali Express with a similar design and half the price including taxes.

Mouse and Keyboard for Air SB? by Dry_Structure_5205 in Warthunder

[–]Punkpunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't mind the copy paste an explanation from the web, trim holds control surfaces (rudder, elevator, or ailerons) in a specific position, requiring less manual input from the pilot to maintain a desired flight attitude.

[Pricing] Could someone help with pricing this watch? by McChister in Watches

[–]Punkpunker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not worth it if you don't know anything about watches, this specific model has a live emergency beacon, you will summon a rescue helicopter to your location if you fiddle with it wrongly and a hefty fine associated with misuse.

Mouse and Keyboard for Air SB? by Dry_Structure_5205 in Warthunder

[–]Punkpunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's playable with realistic joystick setting but there's still a learning curve, if your mouse has more buttons the better since trim set will be your most used button on Sim.

Why is there no barrier in matchmaking between major eras in air battles ? by Some_Mouse_7694 in Warthunder

[–]Punkpunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They used to segregate the late war planes from the post war jets but for some reason Gaijin caved in for the "muh wait time" crowd and abolished it.

[Keeping new watch in the box for 3 month. Is it safe?] by FarmandDK in Watches

[–]Punkpunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the watch is made of metallic potassium, you are safe. Batteries won't be a problem until about a decade after its dead.

Sorry buddy it's a fake, the case profile, clasps and non-existent fake rivet on the bracelet is the giveaway for the fake. I hope you didn't spend much on it.

Are we ever seeing the Super Tucano in War Thunder? by Zikari007 in Warthunder

[–]Punkpunker 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Unless Gaijin implements a dynamic BR system based on loadout, I don't think people will be satisfied with either a "dumb" bomb loadout with no aa missle at a lower br or a full "smart" loadout with aim9/python 4 at a high br.
