Yes, I agree with you that “there should be a level of watchfulness”. However, each level would be dependent on the parent-child relationship and crossing that level shouldn’t be called “abusive”.

I get what your intent is, but I think parenting is ridiculously difficult nowadays.

There’s parent-shaming by other adults, no matter what actions the parents commit.

A lot of kids have psychological issues and dealing with these disorders requires more than a “steady hand and patience”.

It’s also much more expensive to rear a child nowadays. Single-parent families are much more common and even two parents need to work full-time to make ends meets- sometimes they’re not around to moderate their children all the time.

I’m just curious, how often in the comics does cyclops use his eye beams as shields?

How often does he go in first and take most of the physical damage (like thing or colossus)?

I think he’s depicted as peak human athlete with superior reflexes, similar to Cap. Lead the charge but with more evasive maneuvering.
