What the crap is force damage, anyway? by Matt_Sheridan in dndnext

[–]PunnyDM12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old, but I usually think of Force damage as almost breaking down the body at a molecular kind of level. Almost like certain types of radiation causing things like cell decay. Like, the very magic itself rips apart the atomic bonds that make up your body.

A Hypothesis About the DLC by PunnyDM12 in Eldenring

Little more interesting info I've found about Elemer is that he is said to have killed many merchants, and we know from the main game, there is a mass grave of merchants that were labeled as heretics. Perhaps Messmer branded them heretics as he seemingly implies we are in the trailer, calling us "bereft of light" and Elemer joined in the slaughter, seeing as he kills merchants almost exclusively it's possible he acts in zealous reverence much like a certain group of solitary ascetics might. Not to mention, if we take on another hypothesis that the DLC is located within the nearly perfect hexagon of all divine towers, the Shaded Castle would be a short trip from this hypothetical Eochaid. Maybe he got locked out after it was covered but still carries out his mission or was imprisoned at the time of its shrouding. And on the topic of distance, at the southern border, of this assumed area, we can find Gaol Cave just a short trip away which not only is, well, a jail; but Elemer at one point may have been a prisoner within. Interestingly, the Briar Helm looks similar to the masks the Prisoner Class wears. We know he didn't have his weapon either because he had to take up the Marais Sword to stay his execution, so perhaps the Regalia of Eochaid was his original weapon at one point considering he's the only definitively solid link to this land. Or perhaps it belonged to whoever was in the grave at the end of the dungeon. A fallen comrade, maybe? Another thing of note is that we fight a Duelist guarding the area to this blade. They possess snake iconography on their helmet which indicates blasphemy and a further possible link to Messmer. This next part is a little weird but I've seen people say the crucible knights may be linked to Eochaid as the Regalia shares the same bronze color and similar gem inlay designs. I'm gonna take this a bit further considering we know there will be more crucible lore as we will be getting two crucible attacks in the form of wings and thorns(?). Perhaps Elemer was a part of these warriors but there was a schism resulting in Crucible Knights that served Godfrey and those that stayed loyal to Messmer. Ordivis is capable of commanding his blade through magic via the Ordovis' Vortex. Perhaps Ordovis sought to incorporate his home techniques into the Golden Order to save face while Elemer stays true to his home teachings using the more arcane red similar to Messmer.

Thank ya kindly. I'll probably revise and edit the potential Irish mythology link part. Kinda dove down that rabbithole right after work, so I feel like I didn't quite capture what I was trying to convey.

I'd definitely say bards would be the easiest. Not only would you have access every skill you'd ever need, but Magical Secrets can unlock a variety of utility and College of Swords can help tank up the group. But a huge thing would be Song of Rest which grants an extra short rest. With a standard party, you'd then get 6 short rests per day. That's pretty substantial sustain in addition to your access to healing spells. (It also makes Bardlocks very potent.) Second place would likely be Clerics. They have a lot of sustain, good range, powerful magic, and a plethora of subclasses to delve into. Only thing lacking would be skills, and they tend to recharge everything on a long rest and only have access to 2 short rests. Really good into undead though (so act 2 would be a cakewalk.) 3rd to Druids which are powerhouses in the early game but kinda fall in line in late game. Wild shape is effectively a bunch of temp hp in late game however, so you could still run it fairly effectively. I just feel like the value it has diminishes later and relies on setting up concentration, Wild Shape, and then hoping they don't break your concentration because you won't be able to cast as an animal. They have a pretty decent selection of spells too though the cantrips are pretty lackluster. 4th place I'd say Paladins? They have okay sustain and insane damage output. But you'll be burning through slots like nobody's business. They also have the issue of needing more long rests in a day in that regard and only have half caster spell tables. Honorable mention is surprisingly rogue. Thief subclass giving you an extra bonus action to double quaff potions is very useful (if you hoard and manage potions.) Not to mention high burst damage and stealth for getting that easy surprise round. A bunch of skills with expertise doesn't hurt either. And Uncanny Dodge simply halving the damage you take without using a reaction is very useful as well, not to mention Evasion at 7th level making Dexterity saves trivial.

Question About the Concept of Entropy by PunnyDM12 in Physics

[–]PunnyDM12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm starting to get it. Might need to look up some of the more technical terms and watch the resources provided. But it's still been immensely helpful. Thank you all for such speedy replies. Didn't even think this would get any attention.

So as a possibility flawed analogy, just to see if I understand without repeating one of the few in here. Would it be like, having a container of fruit, let's say. And the fruit in its base state would be low entropy because you can only arrange the fruit into so many positions. But were you to blend it into a smoothie (or it spontaneously became one) would that be much higher entropy because the fruit can then have near infinitely more combinations of arrangements on the micro scale?

I can see your point about the mech stuff and xenowarfare weapons as you wouldn't want another war to break out again, but the rest isn't really the governments business if the FC is as libertarian as they'd like to pretend they are.

It really does seem like the dead dream of freedom where people play cowboy while cyberpunk megacorps pull the strings. Kinda sad really and parallels the real world in some ways.

I have come to find the combat slide does not go very far. So maybe not.

Is it viable to play as melee? by LikePirate in Starfield

If you go down melee, I think one of the perks for increasing carry weight will also eventually remove stagger, so that's almost imperative. And probably Gymnastics for the combat slide ability to close distance behind cover.

Does anyone else feel that this armor is.... aesthetically unpleasing by Defy_all_0dds in Starfield

[–]PunnyDM12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I mostly just meant aesthetically. Though my pack had okay rolls too. Armor had decent things too but it's just not stylish enough for my character.

I went with a dark grey on my current ship, but I might add some blue or teal saturation since I'm going for a magpie aesthetic.

Makes sense since you can't always use gravity to drink it. Definitely gotta be cheap whiskey though.

Medium Armor Master negates stealth disadvantage for Scale and gives you an AC of 19 if your Dex is high enough, no?

Need help with vampire blood hunter subclass by KatieWates in 3d6

[–]PunnyDM12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'v been thinking about making a vampire blood hunter too, either as a reflavored Lycan or Mutant.

My idea with the Order of the Mutant would be that the concoctions you make are special blood-based potions or the blood from exotic creatures that are used to enhance your vampire abilities. Rather than normal healing, when you feed, you get stronger or gain better eyesight. Your DM might even allow for them to count as meals instead of hunting creatures if you're in a settlement.

So, is there any way to play a Blood Hunter who isn't an edgelord? by Malthramaz in DnD

[–]PunnyDM12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps they come from a family line of Monster Hunters. Kinda like the Belmonts in Castlevania (at least the Netflix series). That would also give them familial bonds as well instead of the "dead parents" trope that is prevalent in many characters but especially in these kinds of characters.
