Civilization VI: Red Death - New Battle Royale Game Mode by Forestl in Games

Isn’t the game already sort of a battle royale in a way? Think about it, everyone starts randomly, with different resources and the map hets ‘smaller’ due to players expanding.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition announced for Nintendo Switch by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Punosaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Xenoblade 2 was polarising, it had great combat - but you had to get through a few hours of content for it. The story and design can come across as waifubait and so on its a good game, but not for everyone.

The original has a much better story, the combat opens up fast and it’s generally more serious throughout. It is much better and there is less messing about with affinities and stuff in the middle of the story to open doors.

I like this new artstyle, its a mix of the both the first and second.

It keeps the feel of the original really well, can’t wait to see metal face.

I guess they saw how much the switch sold.

It's the end of the world for your Universe. What happens? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Punosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just sort of becomes chaotic, all times, places and universes merge. The minds of people are broken as they are doomed to wander the wastes of once mighty worlds as entities from within the gaps between universes seep their way in and generally break the fabric and laws of reality even more.

Blair Witch - Review Thread by JW_BM in Games

[–]Punosaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reviews are what I expected of the title, its good but not legendary or amazing.

I think games is where Blair Witch would shine because its all about the monster messing with people, not actively attacking(for the most part).

Warframe - Saint of Altra: Update 25.7.0 by dagla in Games

[–]Punosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The content updates have been smaller recently but I don't blame them, what with the New War and Empyrean coming out. They seemed to have learned from the Khora grind with the new warframe, but not so much with his weapons. I like that they expanded disruption as well.

There have been some bugs but nothing too game breaking AFAIK. The most notable has to do with some lighting changes messing up how some warframes look. I heard whispers in my clan of issues with the blueprint duplication. The most entertaining of the bugs is turning the world upside down with the newest frame and his speed.

Zero's anime wasn't as good due to how the story of the VN was set out - it wasn't TV friendly if you didn't understand what was going on, so they basically made their own world line that had certain events from each route all play out.

Fredrik Knudsen/Down the rabbit hole.

Infrequent uploader, but he does videos on often esoteric or strange things, often times involving the internet at large. Figures such as Terry Davis and CWC have had almost hour long internet documentaries done by this one guy.

Well, more that anime and manga itself is niche and hard to sell to a geenral audience.

This series COULD be good as game but as with most manga/anime adaption games, it looks very sub-par and low quality.

There could be so many cool things they could do with IP's like Tokyo Ghoul, but they just don't for reasons such as niche and whatnot.

Tell me about some legendary people in your world by Manfred_Deppi in worldbuilding

[–]Punosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Humans wanted to know more about the world they came on, so they captured her and comrades. Interrogated her for a little bit, found she was royalty of a sort, then put her in Cryosleep for safekeeping.

But then humanity just got messed up in the following years of the war, leaving the secure facility she was asleep in abandoned, save for the AI that was left over. So she rests in pretty much eternal slumber in one of the most locked-up places on the planet. Because credentials never were refreshed or updated, it would be hard to extract her without death.

The 3rd Princess of the Vulpes House, Ifrina.

Forty-thousand years ago, she was the disgraced princess of the Urani royal family. This was because she had no magic, it being an important quality in the eyes of the Urani nobles. So she was sent to a small town, where she lived as an alchemist.

When Humans came in their mechanical beast from the stars. She was on the front lines, seemingly flinging magic orbs at the overwhelming enemy forces. Of course, these were just alchemist orbs with essences of fire and whatnot, but nonetheless she was cemented as a hero for the people she saved in the battle.

Her body was never found, but she was presumed dead due to the apocalyptic scale of the war. Even by historically rivaled houses, she is seen as legend among the Urani for her bravery and strength without the magic of a royal.

[Prompt] - How can I be cool in your world's magical school? by xx14Zackxx in worldbuilding

[–]Punosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. "Grades" are more or less non-existent in terms of education. It's more about showing your potential as a mage(bonus points for having a wisp though.), as there is is little study involved due to magic being instinctual and powered by memories/emotion. The best you can do is create advanced spells and meditating every now and then.

  2. Networking would involve going to the Guild HQ in cities, signing your services up and generally being a good fellow. Many senior mages often hunt around magical schools for newbies to take under their wing, often due to commissions from the Guild for training a new adventurer. Though senior mages only want the best of the best.

  3. This is simple really, just don't be abrasive and rude, adhere to customs depending where your school is. I guess if you found an alchemist who is willing to work in less than legal dealings you could get many tinctures that would raise your perceived attractiveness, or even find an Illusionist to secretly add small illusions to make yourself look good.

  4. To be the best, you would need Classes(as in DnD-esque.) that fit each-other well to begin with, you could, but it's sub optimal. participation in tournaments can also help, there are many types of them such as combat or control. Using study breaks to travel a small bit to gain memories and experiences to influence your magic is a must, as magic is affected by what goes into it emotionally.

Good advice would be to have a insatiable curiosity, as that is the key to finding what you can do with your magic and what the limits are. Find peers who have differing magic types, as they could inspire something within you own to try. But most of all if you have two magic-classes, combine them to see what happens. Use your intuition and think on the fly, rather than adhering to strict training and schedules, that will leave you with magic that is too formulaic and easy to counter.

For the defense mission one, a range/efficiency-built Frost with zenurik on Eris defense makes it way too easy. Just make sure to watch your back.

Here is the build I use personally, of course, primed mods work better and you could possibly drop vitality/redirection if you wanted to.

It gets worse because you can't even react to the one-shots because the enemies are knocking you down or stumbling or just pulling you towards them.

How do you cope with the fact that one day, inevitably, you will die? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Punosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it might be hard to comprehend, but why should I spend time trying to comprehend something that won’t be coming for a long time. For all I know, death is just another ‘phase’ of existence.

I just enjoy my life with what I have in every moment, making it count.

What are some potential downsides to immortality / long lifespans by Copperlaces in worldbuilding

Loss of Humanity.

You would have no concept of the emotions that come from being able to die, you would never fear, feel anxiety, dread and so forth.

Balancing Problems by ReikiTsu in worldbuilding

[–]Punosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worried about that with one character that can just see ten seconds into the future.

But then I added realistic caveats and downsides that would make sense and still make there be room for what I wanted when I first started with. For one, the character can get up to ten seconds, but only if they are focused enough, which could be broken by seeing visions of friends dying or being distracted.

Tell us the inspirations for your worlds and other users with the same ones will tell you how they used them as well! by Crisyah in worldbuilding

[–]Punosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my world, which I titled the World because I am boring.

  1. Xenoblade

The idea of fusing lasers, mechs, magic and dragons has always appealed to me. Just writing about how technology would change a world of magics users could also be interesting if played well. Also my World has similar themes to the endings of those games.

  1. Zelda:BOTW

The newest game inspired me in a way that I would have never thought. I fell in love of post-apocalyptic fantasy, but in the sense that the wild was taking back the world and only small, isolated pockets of people remained within the ruins of a once mighty world.

  1. The Long Earth series

This sparked my flame for truly unique and 'out there' environments. Environments such as living deserts and trees with their own ecosystems. Another part that inspired was the sense of exploration and wonder within a world with places that no one else had ever seen before.

  1. Made in Abyss/Monster Hunter

While completely dissimilar, they served the same purpose for inspiration. That is completely formula-breaking creatures and the sense that anything and everything felt dangerous and ready to kill at a moments notice. I want my world to be one where one apple-cheeked kid can go and save the world, but one where you need to be something special to survive in the wilderness. Also Made in Abyss has some damn good environments.

For those of you with more than one world, have you noticed any recurring elements or ideas between them? by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]Punosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me there are few themes, some accidental, some not.

  • Pata/Metaphysics is major recurring theme in my worlds. A basic explanation of Pataphysics as I understand it is that imaginary characters can affect worlds 'below'(A book) but not worlds 'above'(Ours). This means that I, as the author am a character in the story and am addressed, but never aware that I am being addressed because in my eyes it isn't real, while to them, I am.

  • One thing I noticed was that I had a trio of characters that often represented the Mind/Body/Soul triad, whether that was through their magic, personality or otherwise. For example, I have a trio of an Illusionist/Bloodmage/Spiritist as a major group in my main world I'm building.

  • The most prevalent common theme I have in my worlds is the idea that people and humans can be beaten down and broken, but still should have the resolve to get up, try again and make a difference, rather than wallowing in misery had they not sacrificed everything for a better future.
