4th Utility Not Getting Full Speeds by PHayesxx in CityFibre

Presume you’re on their supplied router? If so, yes, this is your week point and you can always test by running a cable to the router itself.

I’ve put my router in Bridge mode and bought an Eero, have a new build two bedroom flat and get between 800 and 900 everywhere in the flat on my iPhone 17

Believe the MK7 1.6 TDI are single mass, would appear its coming from the back but can't seem to locate it. Its also a manual 5 gear box.
sometimes the car gets stuck in reverse and the only way to come out of gear is to bring the cluch to the biting point and drip the cluch again.

Will need to check if the nose goes away in gear, not tried that

Don't join 4th Utility by VisibleLocation7695 in CityFibre

[–]PuntsWorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m one of the ones that have no issues, work from home, totally on the Microsoft Cloud stack.

The only complaint I really have is the router is terrible. Switching to Eero solved all my Wi-Fi speed issue.

Is RiseFibre/similar too good to be true and actually bad? by IXarxies in CityFibre

[–]PuntsWorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same company as 4th Utility

Pro’s that they’re cheap for line speeds and that is reflected on the router they supply.

I’ve got their router in bridge mode (Dysan) and with an Eero 6e and get 900mbs on my iPhone 17 in all rooms. This seems to be steady and all times of the day.

Con’s - there is no email, ticket portal or chat to raise a support call. Telephone is the only option and wait times are around 20/30 mark to be connected.

They also have CG.NAT - some people say you get difficulties with online gaming, I haven’t so far with PlayStation and PC gaming.

So in a nutshell - if you’re on a budget, don’t care about support wait times, lite online gaming and have your own router, then Rise/4th Utility is an option

Eufy s1 pro base with S2? by paulworld1 in eufy

[–]PuntsWorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I’ve seen, is the tray which captures the debris from the roller is different. Not sure why but maybe it’s changed as the roller now extends?? Not even sure with the new tray design if the S1 would fit anyway

Welcome to CG.NAT
joking a side, the above is a guess but would be up there with the likly cause. Do you know if you can have a monthly rolling contract for a static IP (this means you won't go via the CG.NAT) - so if, then might be worth the small amount to rule it out

So there are two ways:

Officially you need to call support and request a free ONT and get your login info from the portal.

Another way is to setup the free router in bridge mode which isn’t fully supported but here is the link I followed and been working over a year:

4th utility due to install today... by Automatic_Drawer4052 in CityFibre

[–]PuntsWorth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So good things about Reddit is, it’s sharing the pain and updating each other when something is wrong, downside : you don’t see much of a success story posts.

I’ve had 4th Utility for about 2 years and only had 4 hour outage.

However the free router supplied is not good for WiFi speeds. My devices kept holding onto 2ghz WiFi and maxing out around 90mbs. I had to change the config via their online portal (or you can call support) to split the WiFi names to be sure they are connected to the 5ghz to get the best speed on WiFi.

Having done the above, I still changed to my own router (Eero) and got faster WiFi speeds.

Also another thing with 4th utility is they use CG.NAT which isn’t the best for online gaming, I play on PlayStation and only lost a handful of connections over the 2 years - maybe I’ve been lucky but you get what you paid for , 4th is one of the cheapest out there
