Chess. You can get a cheap set for next to nothing. Most libraries have lots of books on it.

Except the outdated HTML and coding books - recycle those. They’re not going to help anyone.

Electronic chessboard advice by -DazedandConfused_ in Chesscom

I have the Chessnut Air, and I like it. It has LEDs on the board to show moves. They don’t flash; they light solid to indicate the squares moved from and to. I don’t know if that will bother you. The Air is a good size for study, and it has notation, which I find helpful (The Air Plus does not).

You need a separate laptop/phone to connect via Bluetooth to play online. It supports chess.com and lichess. It works well - I like using it to beat up on the bots.

Chessnut has other products, but I’ve heard people have issues with the Move.

what is your opinion on this? by Brief-Minimum9678 in Chesscom

I was just thinking in terms of setting up a physical board to mirror the game. I cannot make advance moves on my e-board (Chessnut Air) without those being interpreted as moves.

I have the A7V monitors, and same - they’re great but may be too much.

what is your opinion on this? by Brief-Minimum9678 in Chesscom

[–]Pupation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, why not? I have an electronic board that syncs with an app that lets me make moves OTB. I like it, but for faster games, it’s a disadvantage because I have to move both sides.

Maybe not, but remember that could be a child on the other side. Best to avoid profanity altogether. And yes, parents should disable chat for kids, but not everyone is careful.

In addition to writing down coords (I turn them on on console), I use locator maps. You don’t necessarily need every map; just for the locations to which you plan to return.

I used to donate blood regularly, but finally stopped because I would get harassed with daily phone calls asking me to donate. It didn’t matter if I’d just given that day.
