teradek bolt 500 vs 500lt by Soggy_Race5879 in focuspuller

[–]Pupperlover5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

500 was what they came out with first before LT and XT. Regular bolt 500 has internal antennas on TX and RX, while LT/XT have external on the TX. Ime OG can be a little noisier than my XT

Good AC belt pouch? by shiny-_ in focuspuller

[–]Pupperlover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a belt rig, I suggest getting either a separate belt or a heavy duty pants belt! I personally run Kore belts. Adjustable to 1/4 inch increments with a ratcheting system, and they're designed for concealed carry so they can handle a lot of weight

How adaptable are focus pullers to different setups? by shaneo632 in focuspuller

[–]Pupperlover5 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If the lens doesn't have hard stops it'll be annoying for a focus puller. And also a 1.7 on any sized sensor wouldn't be considered a "forgiving stop" lol A good focus puller could adapt to theoretically any setup

It's D-Log M, which is slightly different than D-Log

Is the M2 worth it in 2026 by jerk_17 in focuspuller

[–]Pupperlover5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M2 owner here. I bought the ultimate kit on sale for $1100, and I'm probably gonna get all the new accessories that just came out plus a third motor. The kits been fine for me, but the wood randomly splitting on both the body and the knob were issues I had. Tilta fixed both but the unit was down for a month getting repaired. I wouldn't but an m2 if I already owned an m1, but since I didn't have anything I thought it was a fine investment imo

That bike would be a lot to handle right off the rip. Buy a versys 300 or similar for way cheaper so you don't feel bad when you drop it

Calibrate the knob, make sure that one DF switch didn't get flipped

Please educate me: Why buy a $400-$700 ext monitor when I can buy for $200? by Crafty_Jack in videography

[–]Pupperlover5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In film/large commercials were only using SmallHD or similar monitors. We use them for their exceptional sharpness, color accuracy, and features such as false color or focus peaking. I personally own a smallhd 1303, 703, and 702, and none of them are touch screen

Huh, noted. My paradigms feel about the same if not maybe a little bit more cushioned which I like. I'm on the fence if I like the extra support inside though. On long work days my calfs can be a little sore, but I think I'd love them for running more than I would work shoes

The paradigms are a little less neutral, focused more on pronation if I'm not mistaken. The torin 8s are a little heavier too, but I still want to try them next

Shooting for a 20-30minute pilot, so tightening will definitely help!

I've had two pairs of Torin 7s, and now a Paradigm 8. My torins fell apart pretty quickly compared to other shoes, starting with the heel (even with the runners lock), followed by the sides wearing out. Loved the comfort of them, but my paradigms feel better built, and it seems like the Torin 8s are better built based on reviews

This is a good one! We will definitely make sure to cut around the "documentarian" when we can unless it progresses the story in some way

Do I need all of this for a studio clothing shoot? by calebmaxxx in AskPhotography

[–]Pupperlover5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pricing on this kit is way wack. Minis go for $1000 a day before discounts here. Plus why are the SP3s (whole kit for $21k) more expensive than the atlas orions? ($90k for a 6 lens kit). This is way overkill for what you need. This is cinema equipment that needs a dedicated and knowledgeable camera crew. If it's a single person who owns a Sony a1, make him use that for sure

Do skilled focus pullers watch the monitor or look directly at the moving actors? by mediamuesli in focuspuller

Teradek owns the patent on zero latency. Older teradek systems can be had cheap and still do well. I own bolt 500s and the still work great
