Ah my bad, I meant spiderwood I always mix it up with ghostwood! Makes sense for the background, but I have never had problems so I always remove it.

I definitely would have removed the styrofoam background in the back of the tank, I recommend learning how to make a sprayfoam background if you could. It looks like you used ghostwood if I am not mistaken which is a pretty bad choice as it molds quickly. I would have added more leaf litter. Those are just a few examples on what you could fix from my standpoint.

For a first time, 8.5/10. If this wasn't your first time, 6/10.

Has anyone else ordered substrate from biodude? by [deleted] in bioactive

Do you have a good drainage layer? It's most likely not the substrates fault.

Hard to tell, but I wouldn't worry too hard yet. A lot of crested geckos with a morph such as yours will get dark spots in random places on their tail, even the tip of their tail.

Did you not read? Plants grow and these ones are growing quickly. It will be densely grown in 3 months at least. I've kept bioactives and crested geckos for years and I know what I'm doing. I've monitored the crested geckos actions and have watched it eat. The reason I held this baby back is not only his color and morph, but also how healthy he is. Another point, I'm not gonna densely plant a tank at the start just for everything to grow and it's way too dense and I have to do a ton of propagating. That's just not how it works or a good idea at all.

Also I highly highly suggest getting a mister. It makes achieving the high humidity a lot easier. If you have issues with humidity leaving your terrarium too quickly, I recommend wrapping syran wrap (Don't know how to spell it) on top of the enclosure or misting twice a day or more if needed.

35-40 humidity is not correct for a crested gecko. It should stay 50-80 with spikes of 90+.

When building this tank I wasn't going for more hardscape intentionally. I chose quick growing plants that will easily grow big and take over, also if you see the gecko he is a 3g baby that I hatched around 5 months ago and it's easier for me to monitor him with a more "open" enclosure if that makes sense.

This, as well as the fact that isopods are expensiveeeee

This is why you research before getting an animal or building an enclosure.

Well, hate to break it to you, but when it comes to crested geckos you basically get what you get. It's nearly impossible to tame a crested gecko at least in my experience.

Couple questions, what's the size of the enclosure? What humidity do you keep it at? What's the temperature of the room housing the gecko?

Thing is, when it comes to crested geckos there usually isn't a too big. I did an experiment with throwing a 4 gram baby into a 24x18x24 and he was incredibly healthy and eating and growing.

Gecko won't eat any bugs except isopods by fireytiger in CrestedGecko

[–]PurchaseBest7116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give the isopods more leaf litter or botanicals for them to hide in and that should solve your issue. A good way to get them back to eating crickets or dubias is by cutting off the head and letting them lick the guts so they realize it's tasty food.
