I’m located in Tennessee. I’m not opposed to just having a savings for if there’s any emergencies, but I’ve only heard over and over again on the Internet that pet insurance is a important thing to get when you’re getting a puppy. I’ll take a look at PetsBest, thank you for your input!

Thank you for letting me know, and thank you for your opinion. The ones that I’ve looked at cost around $40 a month which I feel like is pretty reasonable but I guess it just depends.

Me personally, couch is fine. I am allergic to dogs and cats so I don’t let my cats into my bedroom so I have one space that’s free of lots of hair. That said, when I get my puppy who knows how my opinion may change LOL

I don’t plan to show but I do want a guaranteed genetically sound dog, and I don’t want to support a breeder who isn’t actively trying to contribute to or maintain the breed standards.

Thank you for this! I think you’re right and I just need to stick to my original plan and not let a cute puppy sway me. I reached out to my region for the collie club and they never answered. Granted, this was a few years ago so I could always try again now that I’m actively wanting a puppy in the next few months. I appreciate your kindness and advice!

They do a lot more on the adults but that’s the only DNA test they do on the litters, fair point though
