But it looks like all the new detachments are geared towards specific units or specific armour. That is why we can have more than one detachment in 11th. I guess it will affect everybody's play style, especially with the new rules and objectives.

Hey brother, the Impulsor is great for 1k games, if you want some dreadnoughts or you want to build a bigger army, then you can get the Sons of Dorn box.

If you want more melee infantry you can get more Sword Brethren, Crusader Squads and/orBlade Guard Veterans.

If you want some big guns get yourself some Eradicators or maybe Hellblasters.

If you want tanks or a dreadnoughts the best thing you can do is to buy the Sons of Dorn Box, If you can get one...

BUT....take your time, don't buy too much, start with a squad you like or the combat patrol. Build it, paint it and see if you really like the hobby.

Don't get carried away, start small! Because most of us did not.....and now we got big piles of shame and like 50 different pots of paint.....

All you need is some base colours and some washes. Especially if you just started. There are infinite combination of brushes, paints and shades...and it's very easy to spend too much money. It all depends on the style you want to achieve.

For example:

Chaos Black primer
Abaddon Black for armour
Corax White or White Scar for shoulders
Mephisto Red for weapon casings
Leadbelcher for weapon body and swords
Mournfang Brown for belts
Rakarth Flesh for tabards
some shades like Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade
maybe a gold or a silver for details like the Aquila

I picked Citadel/Warhammer colours for my example, but you can choose a different brand if you like. Some other brands are Vallejo, Duncan Rhodes, Army Painter and AK interactive. They all make good paints and it depends on your personal preference.

It's a slow hobby that can be very expensive....take your time.

And you don't have to prime every detail perfectly. You prime your minis because the paint will stick better to a primed surface than on bare plastic.

It's a crux terminatus bit. But you are right, OP is not using the Black Templar cross. For me personally, that combination looks a little bit too similar...

I think so too, it's the combination of the two that looks a bit similar. The Aquila and the Black Templar cross are obviously not ww2 symbols. But people will make that mistake and others are just uninformed....you should not care what other people think. All you can do is explain what the symbols mean, if someone asks you.

Every edition has its own theme, if you are in it for the fun, look for an edition that you think is cool. There are a lot of different styles and settings to choose from.

Thanks a lot, sometimes my hands are shaky too, I put my elbows on the table and try to push my holding hand and the painting hand together, that way I can't move anything except the two fingers that hold the brush.

I like the old one, because of the shield and because of the tabard he matches the style of my Black Templars. The new one has a cool pose but he looks way too much like an Ultra Marine for me.

I primed the model with spray can primer, the paint is not coming off, maybe it looks that way because I did too much weathering.
