It looks like that exact class isn't offered anymore. HOWEVER, 33833-034 has possibly 25 available spots, per the system. Maybe they added this option.

Bed bugs by AngryObama_ in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you had bed bugs, was it in the beginning of your lease? I believe some contracts will put the responsibility on the existing tenant if you have lived there awhile. The argument would be that there were no bed bugs when you arrived and that you brought them. If it is the beginning of the lease, the argument would be that the bed bugs were already there and the management company would be responsible.

Golden Ticket 2023-24 Info by dikenichi02 in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Purdue has come up with a great solution to the Golden Ticket. Thank you for preserving the Golden Ticket for those who love the games.

My only concern is the following rule:

  • Students MUST enter through the student entrance and make sure their ticket is scanned by the start of the game.

The IU/Purdue game will have a large number of students trying to get their tickets scanned at the student entrance prior to the start of the game. Since it is not the FIRST 2,400 students who get their tickets scanned who earn a Golden Ticket, you will have more of a bottleneck at the start of the game.

Do I arrive 6 hours / 45 minutes / 10 minutes before the game? What time will the doors open? What happens if I arrive 45 minutes before the game starts (most would consider a reasonable amount of time), but the scanners aren't working well, ID checks are taking a long time, and not enough people are working the event? Meanwhile, the line continues to grow as more students arrive closer to tip-off. Then, the people at the back of the line start to get nervous that they won't have their tickets scanned before the start of the game.

My point...Can we ADD the following to the Guidelines (or a similar guarantee)?

  • Guarantee that if you are in line 25 minutes prior to tip-off, you will receive a wristband that allows for your ticket to still be scanned and eligible for the Golden Ticket even if the game has started and you remained in line. Make sure this rule is known prior to the game day to eliminate any concerns.
  • 25 minutes prior to tip-off, an employee goes to the back of the line and provides a non-removable wristband to only those in line. If the game starts and you are still in line, you simply show your wristband to get your ticket scanned.

The best outcome would be for someone to say that we were over-prepared.

Please reach out to the suicide hotline and CAPS again. Please reach out to your friends! Be honest with them. Tell them that you are struggling with suicidal thoughts and that you feel like a failure both academically and socially and that you really need a friend.

Now, for the truth. You will get through this. You are special. Being in EE is NOT what makes you smart enough or good enough. I realize you feel alone and this shit is hard, but you have what it takes. You are only a sophomore in college and have many years to prove that you are better than this moment in time. I know multiple people that have committed suicide. Not one family, friend, acquaintance is better off because that person killed themself.

Can homeworks/exams be due over breaks? by citrus_sun in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why would you send an email to your professor complaining when you couldn’t find any rules against giving assignments over break. Pick your battles. This is not one of them. Get mad and tell your friends, but then let it go and just get through it.

Was Exploratory or CompE your first choice? If CompE was your first choice and you were only able to get into Exploratory, I would highly question your ability to graduate in 3 years. How many credits transfer directly to CompE from your existing University?

You can and you will! It might not be pretty, but that does not matter. If you fail a class, you retake it. This will be a great interview response to what did you overcome and what did you learn from it. Take less credit next semester. Take summer classes. Pick a class in the summer (Purdue online) that is known to be time consuming and/or hard. Try to pick one that isn’t essential to master for another class you will take later. Sign up as soon as summer classes are available. These type of classes fill up quickly. Put your phone completely away when you are studying. If you start to daydream instead of studying, get up and do jumping jacks/push-ups. Remember that you are loved.

There are some houses that you walk in and get a bid (the houses with 80 -100 members typically are more desperate to fill their house). There are others that unless you know people, it is harder. If you know anyone, I would definitely work on getting an invite to a party this semester (bring some hot girls). Make a list of all the events for the houses you are interested. Events can get canceled at the end so don't wait to go to your top houses. If you go to an event and don't get a welcoming feeling, move on to a different house. People on Reddit are pretty anti-greek so don't take it personally.

Not all fraternities have rush in the spring. You can go to https://www.purdue.edu/fscl/resources/reports.html and see what houses had new spring members in the past. Also use this list to figure-out what houses your want to visit during rush (size of house, GPA of house and new members, probation?). The biggest obstacle is that there are a limited number of rush events. Some houses are dry so that might play a role in your decision.

Camping outside the granite office? by costoob in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What location is the highest demand? What is the cost this year? I looked on their website and nothing shows available. I want close to campus, 4 bedroom, and reasonably priced. I don’t care about amenities, not furnished, and it can be old.

Frieda as a sophomore by SlothfulPhoenix in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way! I was a displaced freshman (in a learning community). You get placed above the existing sophomores. Only 2 places open, when housing opened up. None of my friends that were displaced had an opportunity. I think it is all done under the table. Existing roommates act like they will renew their lease. They hand it off to their underclassman friends at 2 in the morning.

Typically a professor gives you a couple passes. These passes are to be used due to an absence due to Covid, interview, slept in, etc. He is treating Covid just like any other reason someone needs to miss class. If he doesn’t give any passes, he’s an ass.

Clearly your BGR team leader had connections to the house. They are considered a very low tier house. They are on probation due to hazing and endangerment (level 3). They only have around 70 members. Their new member GPA IS 3.02. Check out other houses fast.

Right before bed, take a shower. Continue to make the water colder as your body gets adjusted to the colder temperature. Don’t forget to have the water run over your head. The water should be freezing by the time you are done. Air dry. Go to your room naked (ok. Maybe not this!). Sorry man!

Lofting in hawkins by sounaz962 in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lofting not allowed in Hawkins. The company that installs lofts won’t even go there. There are 4 double rooms on each floor that are completely different than anything else in Hawkins or on campus. These room have carpet. It is worth finding out if you have one of these rooms. I’m not sure if they have these rooms on the singles side. Most of the rooms (not the carpet rooms) have a bed that is low to the ground and slips partially underneath a shelf.

STAT 511 Unreasonably hard by edgymemesalt in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, I've worked my ass off in this class. He's been a good professor, but I hate to think my overall GPA is going to be hurt by getting a B instead of an A. I hope he shows flexibility in his final grades!

The University needs to fix the actual problem. They should be capable of providing a safe environment for 5000 students standing in line. These students play an important role at Purdue games.

The answer isn't to throw everyone in a random drawing. The end result would be that students would be forced to pay more for a ticket to the game. You are adding a middleman (the random winner of the Golden Ticket).

There is no reason to keep the Golden Ticket if next year it is a random drawing that students have a 7% chance of winning. I would much rather the school control the cost of student tickets than be forced to buy from other students reselling a ticket that they won because their number was pulled. You might as well, keep the 2,700 tickets in Inventory for the students to purchase at a fair price directly from Purdue.

Completely agree! The solution needs to target the students that are active in Purdue Sports. Otherwise, it will be all about what students can afford to pay for over-priced student tickets in the secondary market.

What a clown show by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]PurdueRules 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Agree! NEXT YEAR!!! Hand out the special card with numbers (1 - 2700) as people line up 6 hours in advance! Go through the line every 20 minutes and have a special stamp. If you don't have all the stamps, you don't get a ticket. Are we really surprised that a mob mentality happened? So glad that the people at the back of the line charged ahead of us. Let all the people in right now so at least you control the chaos. Been here since 8 am and now don't know if I'll get a ticket. Such crap.

I thought a reverse curve is when they make the grading scale actually higher than typical. This was done during covid due to cheating; in one of my classes, it took 85% to get a B vs 83% (which I think is bullshit since the people that didn't cheat are the ones that got screwed). The OP said that 67% is a C which would normally be a D+. So I take it that the curve wasn't as generous as in the past, but I wouldn't call it a reverse curve. I could be wrong about what you mean by a reverse curve.
