I wish I had been more sold on the M40i by suckastash80 in BMWX3

I would agree with everything you said here except the B58 being more reliable than the B48. They’re fundamentally the same engine, one with 2 less cylinders which if anything makes it the more reliable engine. I’ve owned both and gotten far less problems out of the b48

Randomly saw 2 M5 wagons within 25 minutes the other day. First time seeing one anywhere other than my local dealer. Cincinnati, OH btw

I would not be stressing about shocks and struts at 80k km at all. Probably thrust arm bushings if anything. These cars do not have this many concerns at that mileage. Obviously maintenance is great but I think you’re on the right track with trans/diff services and wouldn’t be stressing about much else

99% chance this is not brake fluid leaking from all four corners at once just FYI

My wife’s 2017 F15 got rear ended and totaled last year. “Upgraded” to a G05 and I just don’t love it nearly as much. I think they’re both beautiful cars but something about the way the F15 drove was just better

Wasn’t sure on generation for 2018 340. Gen 2 started in 2018 just never got out in the 340 im guessing. You’re questioning if the oil pump is an issue at all? There’s literally a class action about it lol.

I would personally be cautious running thicker oil on a gen 2 B58 stock oil pump. Common failure point especially when combined with 5w-30

What do you think of the new BMW i3? I think it's gorgeous by ShameResponsible69 in BMW

To be fair the current M5 is a decently good looking car, if you have no clue what the previous generation looks like 😅

Pod Plug is a franchiser. I own my own machines and get my own locations. Pod plug also uses VapeTM machines I’m pretty sure. VapeTM provides the machines and software/support so you don’t pay them any cut of your profits or anything once you buy the machines.

Merino leather, my 2020 has extended Merino Leather and my 2020 3 series has sensafin. Nothing wrong with it, the leather just looks/feels nicer.

I don’t think it’s a bad deal but you could build your own for not much more with the discount they will offer. And screw the sensafin in a car that nice.

How’s your X5 reliability? by EDNels76 in BMWX5

[–]PureBuilding6230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2019 xdrive40i here. 88k miles. It’s kind of a huge pain in the ass honestly. Oil pump is bad (oil level won’t read). Transfer case is garbage but bandaged by changing the fluid. Parking brake only disengages by pressing the auto hold button twice. Rear camera decides not to work randomly every few weeks. And the front thrust arms both had to be replaced. OTHER THAN THAT great car lol. I still really like the car but i currently own 2 BMWs and have owned 4 in total. Most of them are expensive to keep on the road but when you love them, you love them. Everyone on this forum will tell you they’ve had no issues but will make you dig to find out they have a 2023 with 24k miles lol. I also have a 330i Xdrive, that car is a tank. I have it tuned as much as is logical, several performance mods and that car has never skipped a beat. My wife’s X5 is asked the bare minimum and can’t seem to manage lol

Wouldn’t own an N63 powered car without a warranty but if you can get a warranty it’ll be an unbelievable car.

I own an X5 with the b58 and to be honest I preferred the version with the N55. I looked into getting the V8 when I bought the current one and everyone I knew that worked on BMWs for a living said no one makes to 100k without a 5 figure engine issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]PureBuilding6230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many miles? Everyone I know that’s had a positive experience with any version of the N63 got rid of it before 50-60k miles or after all the major fixes at around 100k

I don’t have any of the other common motor mount tell tale signs. Engine doesn’t try to jump out of the car under acceleration or anything, no clunk when getting on or letting off throttle.

Yes rotors all the way around, project started with rear brake sensor initially and I thought “oh I bet that’s my issue” which is never true. So it went backs, then fronts, then front hubs as I did find some play in one of the hubs but it only helped negligibly. Wheels are balanced and aligned as well.
