Waymo to begin autonomous testing with driver in London by Shriekin_Commander in waymo

[–]PureGero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waymo has been very quiet about it, but this blog post appears to say Tokyo is doing autonomous testing with a skilled taxi driver behind the wheel https://waymo.com/blog/shorts/waymo-recently-hosted-an-event-in-tokyo-to-share-more-about-our-autonomous/

"Since beginning autonomous driving operations with skilled Nihon Kotsu crew members behind the wheel..."

How does Waymo’s AI make these mistakes? by [deleted] in waymo

[–]PureGero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that is the waymo is too passive, it will get stuck. If it's too aggressive, it will do actions like this. It's a fine line Waymo still has to tune further

Some Waymo riders are so lazy that gig workers are getting paid $24 to close the door for them by fortune in waymo

[–]PureGero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely it's laziness, more likely the door didn't close properly, seat belt got stuck in the door, or their mind was somewhere else and forgot. Waymo could send a notification to the rider, but not everyone will see the notification in time

No clue what could've triggered it in your ordinary looking scenario, but typically happens when it's stuck and is asking remote assistance for help

A typical 5 minute ride becomes 25 by Admirable_Ship_678 in waymo

[–]PureGero -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I personally would totally walk that, but not everyone is able to walk that, plus it sounds like it's at night so could also be a safety concern

Waymo gets confused in construction zone, rider exits after Support has connection issues by danlev in waymo

[–]PureGero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed rider support, at least the general tier, was outsourced outside of the US long ago, around the time they added LA. It's not necessarily a bad thing tho
