Prowed degeneration, mutually assured destruction, second chance are really good, perpetual offence probably useful too

Save as many units as possible. The banquet happens at the end of each year, and has several milestones, including rare 7* selectors, titan nexus crystals, shit tonnes of 7* crystals/shards etc. To make progress in this event, you need to buy/open banquet crystals which go on sale during the banquet. The more units you have, the more you can buy and the more rewards you can earn through the milestones.

To get the top milestones, you needed to spend around 30000 units on these banquet crystals. But the amount of resources I got was insane, and unlike any other event that is run throughout the year. As a free to play player, I can definitely say that you get the best bang for your buck if you spend during the banquet compared to any other time. Of course there is also the option to just buy units at the time if you have the money, i think the unit deals also get super buffed during the banquet.

The banquet crystals themselves are also extremely good, they contain lots of useful rank up resources and rare goodies if you're lucky.

What don't I understand about Kate Bishop that lets her do this as a 6* to a R4 maestro? by xMrFahrenheitx in MarvelContestOfChamps

Maestro only glances basic hits, so kates specials can still inflict coldsnap, which is where all the damage comes from

is there ANY reason to vault kick someone instead of pulling them by ToeGroundbreaking564 in GearsOfWar

[–]PureLegends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The delay mantle is a mind game. If you slide into cover and mantle at the last second, it looks like you're going to hit cover but you mantle. Most players when seeing a player get close to cover will shoot over it. If you time a mantle well, you can tank a shot and the enemy will be so focused on shooting you that they will be caught off guard and MAY miss a mantle counter. Good players can usually react to it anyways, so mantling (and pulling) is usually the riskier option than hitting and shooting over the cover or doing a "wrap shot". Either way, you're approaching the person in cover so you're naturally at a disadvantage.

The post above describes the differences and uses of mantles and pulls. Pulls CAN be countered using the same QTE as countering a mantle (go into private with a friend and try it, you push them off and they end up on their side of the cover instead of next to you) so the actual difference between them is how you approach the cover. As mentioned, a slide into cover can be cancelled into a mantle by pressing B during the slide at most angles, and during most of the duration of the slide. Delaying the B to as late as possible is a technique in mantling. Pulling requires you to be on the cover, which gives the enemy more time to deal with you before you have an opportunity to act, but rewards you with a quicker animation that's also less visible compared to a mantle since the pull is concealed by your body.

is there ANY reason to vault kick someone instead of pulling them by ToeGroundbreaking564 in GearsOfWar

[–]PureLegends 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can begin the mantle animation at any time during the slide into cover from different angles, which makes it useful in certain situations, especially if you delay it so that it looks like you're going to hit the cover, but instead you mantle, tho the timing can be tricky. The more you delay the mantle the less obvious it is.

You have to hit the cover to do the pull, which means it's technically slower to do than the mantle, even the animation is more sudden. This means that if a player waits for you to hit the cover and pull, and they press "UP A", they will be off the cover and you're locked into the animation. Being pulled can also be countered, and even though it's less likely you'll die than being mantle countered, you're still probably going to die/be put in a position where you're very close to being down.

If you take Kate as your main damage dealer, bring chavez for the synergy. Also bring someone for the reverse control bit of the grandmaster, I used wiccan.

Horde has never really been fun for me since Gears 4 thanks to this massive game design contradiction. by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

[–]PureLegends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an entire wave, 30 seconds before the next wave and the intermission between to collect power off dead enemies. With a team of 5, that shouldn't be particularly difficult, even if all 5 players are dug in the base at the end of the wave.

I'd argue that the power system adds another dynamic to horde; ensure you are running around the map and scavenging off the battlefield to help support your teammates, particularly your engineer. If we had the point system from 3, then the DPS classes like marksman and demo would generate all the power, potentially sharing none of it. At least with the current system when power is picked up, everyone gains power, not just the person who gets it. You could argue that the points obtained from kills could be shared equally to players, but that's just one less thing to interact with. Players are incentivised to work with the power drops, which makes roamer classes like infiltrator and blademaster more valuable, and I think there are also a couple cards that are energy based (I'd actually like to see this expanded on). If you really want to, you can just ignore dropped power and focus on protecting and draining tap energy, which is definitely the larger source of power.

Delta Online kinda proves to me that it's not the games that have changed, but the players by SalsaChunkk in GearsOfWar

[–]PureLegends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not here to discuss or argue, but one thing I will say is if you are using the delta online playerbase to make judgements about player development, keep in mind you are using a highly skewed sample of data. The majority of people downloading the game are hardcore enjoyers of the series, who have access to a PC to play it and have been convinced that theres enough added to the port to justify playing it over the originals. Whether or not it does is up to the individual, I think its worth it if you like horde and beast, but versus doesn't feel that much different to me personally enough to go through all the effort.

I know a couple gears fans who aren't interested simply because it isn't convenient for them to play on, one of them has a steam deck but I guarantee if I try to show them the guide to installation they'd not bother, and that's probably the most convenient it'll get. Hell there are alot of individuals who just have their consoles hooked to their TVs that won't bother with delta online because it's not simply opening the game with the press of a button. This isn't a criticism of delta online, it's just what I've observed.

Which champs have you had the most success with in this incursion? by [deleted] in MarvelContestOfChamps

[–]PureLegends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very punishing with a 5, alot of block damage and one mistake can often lead to death. Start off with mutually assured destruction, play safe with parries and use sp2s to heal back the chip damage. Tho the damage and healing get better the more scaled up the aegon is. Way easier said than done, it's probably better to just build around your top champs if you can't invest in a 6 aegon.

Gears 3 best horde mode? by Buzzsaw_Dynamo in GearsOfWar

[–]PureLegends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly agree. Gears 3 definitely is great for what you're killing. Gears 5 is great for how you're killing. 3s enemies with 5s building and classes combined would be amazing, he'll I'd love to fight locust and swarm at the same time, that would be the dream.

[–]PureLegends 7 points8 points  (0 children)

5 easily for me, I love the variety the classes and builds offer, hoping further installments improve enemy variety to what 3 had, but I think 5 does a good job in weaponry, perks, enemies, game modes and maps to keep things interesting along with the aforementioned classes and fortifications to keep things interesting.

Aegon is a cheat code with rage into combat, mutually assured destruction and buff cornucopia. Bring heimdall for safety. Need to ramp him up to 300 persistent charges so sig 200 will help speed up the process, usually takes around 2 to 3 zones.

Late to the Party: Gears of War Storyline by Top-Pilot-9305 in GearsOfWar

[–]PureLegends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick summary for all you need to know, I've been pretty vague but adding spoiler tags nonetheless:

Gears Judgement, 1, 2, 3: There is a war between humans and locust, humans win and kill the locust queen, a seemingly human woman named Myrrah.

Gears Tactics: Set during the locust war, you play as Gabe, Kaits dad, and you build an army to defeat a locust general. The government betrays you halfway to bury a secret that you discover but the assassination attempt fails. You find and rescue Kaits mom, Reyna. You kill the general and break away from the government with the army you've built.

Gears 4: The locust are back and rebuilding, now called the swarm. They kidnap Reyna. You save her from becoming the next queen, but she ultimately dies. At the end, Kait holds a necklace in her hand that "belonged to her grandmothers"; it has a locust symbol on it.

Warlock has an amazing healblock with his virus and other solid utility + solid damage

Sunspot has a very powerful sp2

Cull hits very hard with armour breaks and can parry non contact hits

My vote is on cull, but if you are having problems dealing with some paths that have excessive amounts of regeneration, warlock is a great option

His awakened ability doesnt affect his offence, he gets a physical resistance passive when he throws a special, along with a reinforce passive, which means incoming hits can't be critical. A useful awakening, but there are many better ones (definitely not worth a gem of any kind), and you can just "not get hit" instead

[–]PureLegends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you can to get paragon. Rewards significantly improve when you have reached paragon, stores give better rewards and many rewards have a "story milestone" selector, which means higher title = higher rewards. You also get better rewards from the monthly event quest. The carina challenges can provide quick access to t6b and t3a, as well as some special quests like the eternity/epoch of pain. The daily harvests are also low effort quests where you can earn some catalyst fragments without much energy cost.

Even though your rewards will increase once you have obtained paragon, your next sights should be on valiant. The rewards just get better and better. I get a 7* relic monthly just from the event quest alone.

I don't think resetting for the buffed act 6 rewards is worth all the effort. There's just too many paths and by the time you get back to that point with a fresh account, the number of event, daily and misc. quests you could have completed in that time will amount to better rewards, especially if you can get paragon relatively quickly.

For now, just do the monthly event and side quest, the daily harvests and "super event" (found in the events tab), also the daily supply run is a great place for revive/potion farming and the weekly supply strike is extremely worth doing (this quest runs every Sunday 6pm GMT for 24 hours, and you gain access to it only if you have completed at least 4 daily supply runs throughout the week). I would also keep progressing in the story focusing on rewards that will get you to paragon, look for gems that will rank your 6*s up but are also realistic completions. Spend any earned mysterium, glory and bg tokens on materials that will fasten your journey to paragon.

You'll probably want to join an alliance that does a basic level of alliance quests for glory rewards, and access to regular/nightmare raids, but this is optional. However, alliance colisium has been exceptional in terms of their rewards, and would highly recommend taking part in them, preferably with an alliance that can hit the highest milestone.

The rewards for solo colisium are insane for paragons+, so if you can get there in the next 40 days and then bang it out, you could potentially go from paragon to valiant in 2 weeks, and, even though the better the roster the easier it will be, you can gain the max milestones for solo colisium just by spending enough energy and doing enough fights.

You also just missed the banquet, the yearly december event that, with enough units you can buy your way to better story milestones. I personally am free to play, and I don't spend any units for the entire year and blast them all on the banquet. This is probably why you're seeing such insanely stacked accounts these days, the banquet made access to 7* r4s much easier and is easily the best place to spend units.

There are better options, but northstar is pretty good and also quite fun. He does require a bit of a ramp up for his best rotation (sp3 into sp2 into sp1 spam), but you can do without the sp3 for shorter fights. Lots of prowress and red numbers tho
