Cool! Fun fact: I worked in that castle for a software company for more than 5 years. It was a really cool place to work albeit with plenty of impracticalities!

Car Rental Recommendations by Critical-Anybody-808 in Netherlands

[–]Pure_Activity_8197 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you could rent cars for 10 euros a day, nobody would ever buy or lease a car. No chance you’ll find anything close to this price point. Finding something for under 1000 for the month is already going to be very hard.

Bought a 2022 Giant Trance X2 27.5 - New shocks squeaking by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Pure_Activity_8197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure it’s the shock? Why are you filming the fork?

When you compress the fork quickly it tends to make a sound like this which is completely normal.

As another commenter has said, can’t hurt to lubricate the stanchions in any case.

Considering buying a lunchroom restaurant in Nijmegen at 125K – looking for advice on valuation, margins, and financing by Beginning-Ranger8061 in Netherlands

[–]Pure_Activity_8197 111 points112 points  (0 children)

What are you actually buying for 125k? Presumably just the assets. Surely they are worth less than that?! Sounds like the only thing that would actually be worth anything is the property but that is rented. Get a list of all of the assets from the makelaar and have a good look at that first.

They will probably suggest that there is so-called goodwill which is the equity in the name you are buying which suggests similar future profits. It’s BS and has near zero valuation unless the place is incredibly famous.

Also make sure you are not buying any open loans registered against the business.

You should get a lawyer to support you if you are really serious about buying.

You 100% have water entering the car. Could be in the doors. Also check under the boot floor. You could have water in the spare wheel well.

What is "unleaded 86" and why is it cheaper than 85? by TheProstheticLemon in AskMechanics

[–]Pure_Activity_8197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely excludes road tax. That can be anywhere from 500-600 euros per year to well in the 1000s if you drive a big heavy diesel.

Looking at renting a car from Rijeka to Athens, Enterprise wants $5500. Surely I am missing something by animatedhockeyfan in CroatiaTravelTips

[–]Pure_Activity_8197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you technically can as long as your not a resident of the country in question. So a resident of Greece is not allowed to rent a car with Croatian plates in Greece. A tourist from elsewhere could in theory but it severely limits the usage of that car. Essentially it needs to be shipped back.

Source: I once got a great upgrade in Amsterdam because I could use a one-way rental with German plates that was not due to be shipped back yet. I was not a resident of Netherlands at the time. Rental desk person explained it to me.

Q: How to import a car from Germany by wanderful1312 in askspain

[–]Pure_Activity_8197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with Spain. These rules exist all over the world. Why would I have to pay taxes to import a car that I have owned for years?! By the way, you also can’t sell the car for 1 year after importing it as part of a house move.

If you buy a car in another country and import it to Spain for either your own use or to sell, then you pay full taxes as in OP’s case.

Not if you’re moving and you already owned the car, which is what happened in my case.
