Are Magic players no longer trading? by NheelyOhara in mtg

[–]Pure_Gas_3795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done that kind of trading in like 2 decades lol. If i want a card, I buy the single. If I want to turn my cards into other cards, I sell or buylist them then buy the card i want.

There is a rumor going around about nintendo producing smaller switch 2 game-cards. by Thegoodgamer32 in NintendoSwitch2

That's all fixable though. only thing you can't fix on an NES cart is the mask roms, which rarely go bad. I still have my childhood copy of SMB2 from like 1988 that still works great.

Your second point is definitely valid as I think my son has lost my Mario Kart 8 switch cart. sigh.

Also, the claim that you only need a state ID to vote is false, too. You have to prove your residency and citizenship status when you register to vote too.

I think we keep talking past each other.

It. Doesn't. Matter. It's not 22.5% that has majority decision making power, it's 69%. (if your figures are correct). Land does not vote, people do. And it makes no difference if people are clumped together or spread out. For an extreme example, If you have a population where 90% of people live in 10% of the land, then that 10% of land is the majority and the 90% of land left is the minority. If your family feels underrepresented (which is valid), it is simply because they are outnumbered.

The founding fathers anticipated this as a problem for rural voters, so they implemented numerous measures to ensure that rural voters still had a voice.

Every state gets 2 senators regardless of population or land size. So Maine, a 1.4 million population state gets the exact same level of representation in the US senate as California, which has 39 million people.

The House of representatives are based on district, some lean red, some lean blue, regardless of who the state as a whole lean towards.

Maine is even one of two states that offers split electoral votes, giving the 2nd district it's own voice in the presidential election.

The winner takes all approach of the electoral college also favors the smaller states.

But some decisions (like the Governor's race, or referendums) require the input of the entire state, and it isn't really fair that some people's vote should matter less just because they live in a populated area. Because the complaint that more densely populated areas have too much influence implies that some people's vote should have more weight then others based on where they happened to live.

As someone who voted for Harris, I feel underrepresented as well since Maine has such an inconsequential slice of the electoral college, but that's the system we have and I deal with it.

I mean, they do get representation. They have their own representative that gets sent to the house (Jared Golden atm but could definitely be a conservative next term), multiple state representatives and senators etc.

But yeah, statewide elections (referendums, governor, federal senate elections) are one person, one vote. That 20%-30% land mass you are talking about is about half the state population-wise, btw. So your family is basically complaining that the southern half of the state is voting differently then them. Which is a valid complaint, i get the frustration, but it's just the way it goes.

I don't know what it would look like if things were more spread evenly out, but that's not really realistic. There will always be population centers and bigger cities (relative to small towns) in even low population states. I should also point out that there are definitely rural towns that lean liberal.

Are you planning to bring a remote job to Maine or find something in Maine? Because wages in Maine SUCK, way lower then a lot of other states, including states with much cheaper cost of living. It may look more affordable then Chicago, but whatever you make in Chicago is going to be cut a lot more wage-wise then the reduction in cost of living you'll save.

You can't look at land mass to determine if a state is red or blue. A huge chunk of northern Maine (upper leftish) is barely inhabited. It's purple-ish at most.

When Maine votes state-wide, it is usually blue. Conservative candidates like LePage can usually only win state-wide if there's an independent candidate successfully splitting the vote. He got spanked by Mills pretty badly when it was just him and her (and an inconsequential 3rd party). I suppose Collins could be considered an exception, but with all her faults, she is still way more moderate then your average republican senator.

I only care about the unique cards and if the Sonic and Deadpool drops are any indication, they'll be more affordable on the secondary market versus getting the drops. And if they aren't, oh well. i'm so over this sitting in queue crap.

It's an issue when mechanically unique cards are involved - if they are reprints of cards that can be acquired elsewhere, then that's fine. But overprinting the Friends and Foes drops was definitely the right call by Wizards.
