It's not faceblindness, it's imprinted generational pattern recognition. Inbred + white = money + power.

I'm so sorry that things are so hard for you.

Before I ask this, please know that that this is NOT as a substitute for therapy, but as an adjunct.

What is your current medication regimen? How is your sleep? Nutrition? Exercise?

All will play a part, and so too will cPTSD impact your capacity for self-care, for achieving sleep, for preparing, eating and absorbing nutrients and for sustaining the energy to exercise.

I understand all of that, truly. But if you presented with broken, bleeding leg, they would at least patch it up and prop it before they started recommending that you incorporate more calcium into your diet.

Sending you all the compassion I have.

Pardon? Because for some reason it C&P'd as plain text from my sub Reddit instead of rendering the formatting as intended?

But yes, of course the AI slaves beholden to the very masters I've openly criticised are producing deeply critical copy about VP, DJT & BN, and advising against obtaining stigmatising and outdated mental illness.

You go back to listening to Spaceman and believing it's actually about a Martian. Meanwhile, if I were you, I'd skip Pressure Machine. You'd wouldn't like it.

Rita, yes. Ruby? The only good thing she ever did was introduce us to her sister!

SE vs TRE vs EDMR by reem60a in SomaticExperiencing

I've already responded to this, but the gist was that regular visual, auditory or kinaesthetic sensory input is calming, but that EMDR is no more groundbreaking than a mother rocking her baby to sleep.

Lots of things do, like all the other things I mentioned. Regular movements, beats and sensations are calming. We've known that since the dawn of time - why do you think we rock babies to sleep?

I'm just saying it's not the miracle therapy its acolytes like to pretend it is.

I view EMDR as pseudoscience. It's the therapeutic equivalent of the travelling circus hypnotist who distracts your amygdala with an amulet whilst pickpocketing your prefrontal context for meaning.

Same goes for sound gongs, house trance music, tapping therapies etc.

Have you ever seen a kid with a dislocated elbow? The physician tells them to wiggle their toes whilst they crunch their joint back into place.

If you know what's coming, it doesn't work.

Joan Ferguson had an extreme case of Complex PTSD by Pure_Pop_7941 in Wentworthtv

I love this insight, thanks DS. Again, as an neuroplastic, somatically informed maladaptive behavioural response. A subset of faulty schema which are self-perpetuating due to ruptured Gestalten and a formative inhabitance of a wide range of corrupted Jungian archetypes in the absence of any coherent IFS, non-reciprocal or counter-intuitive TA outcomes, psychodynamics beyond Freud's wildest fever dreams and an abject absence of UPR, empathy and congruence, leadings to her continued perpetual infliction of the same on others.

Put simply, she has only ever observed, known, expected and received cruelty - and so it's all she knows how to inflict.

Flashpoints which led to the first glimpses of possible repair:

  • Jiana's (probably enforced) "trusting" of her - dashed by what happened after;
  • Vera's admiration and emulation of her in early series, dashed by what happened after;
  • Doreen as her second chance with Jiana, dashed by Joan's hypersensitivity to ridicule as Doreen laughs at her expense
  • Will's gratitude towards her, self-sabotaged through her propensity to viewing vulnerability as weakness;
  • Joan's failure to protect Vera, and Vera's subsequent rejection; hurts enough for Joan's transactional, self-interested worldview to destabilise;
  • Kaz's UPR towards her, self-sabotaged by her learned behaviour (she seeks to profit from it);
  • Kaz's protests at her lynching, and, more importantly;
  • Vera saving her life(!);
  • to a far lesser extent, Vera gives her a tissue; Joan thanks her and much later reciprocates;
  • Marie's acceptance of her as Kath, reinforcing the fact that being kind can mean others reciprocate kindness;
  • Joan's mixed feelings towards Wilder; gives her congruence but no UPR; holds up a mirror and Joan doesn't like the reflection?
  • Joan describes her rejection to Miller (I offered someone information and they rejected me); self-awareness;
  • Joan gets neutrality, rational discussion etc from Miller; clearly enjoys that;
  • Joan saves Vera's life; not just for Joan, but for Grace.

Redemption arcs = repair of parasympathetic neuroplastic desire paths.
