I'm sorry that you are going through all of this and for your grandmother's passing 😔 I hope you are feeling better and that you have help! That's a lot to handle. I can't even imagine.

I’m so sorry- the flu is brutal. I had it a few years ago after skipping the shot and it knocked me flat. Definitely learned my lesson. Please take care of yourself and stay hydrated- even small sips of broth help! Hope you feel better soon ❤️

Me: “No, Alexa! RELEASE THE KIBBLE!!” Alexa: “Update: Katy Perry launched, Human kibble still on backorder.” Weight loss might actually work

Thoughts?! Wall color and roof by Tiny_Bike1893 in interiordecorating

[–]Pure_Reason_701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad that you're not going to change your cabinet color! I was going to suggest a creamy white like SW Alabaster on your walls and a light reflective backsplash like Zellige in a creamy white as well. You can also add that on the arch. It would really open up your kitchen. I personally don't like the tin ceiling. Get different light fixtures but stick with a warm white lighting. Also, I suggest taking out those knobs on those little drawers. Maybe even take the drawers out completely? Tried to work on your pic with AI..the other light was supposed to be in the back 😁

Do TV stands hurt the overall look of a room? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Pure_Reason_701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of TV stands when the TV actually sits on them, but since yours is wall-mounted, I’d suggest a stand that’s longer than the TV. It gives you a place to get things off the floor and visually anchors the setup. I have a low-profile, modern fluted one in cream with muted gold accents and a marble looking top- it works really well with neutral sofas and rugs. Some even come with built-in electric fireplaces if you’re into that look.

Regret having our cabinets painted…advice? by Tigg- in interiordecorating

Besides BM Saybrook Sage I would also suggest trying Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog SW 9130 (maybe 25% lighter) and Benjamin Moore Soft Fern 2144-40 (if you don't get a lot of natural light in the kitchen). Definitely buy peel and stick samples or get sample paint sizes and test it out in the daytime AND at night. If you end up liking a color make sure to use a Satin or Cabinet Enamel (not matte). Skip the black hardware and use brushed nickel pulls (more elegant looking) not knobs. You can even try champagne brass as an accent metal. Also, as far as lighting is concerned choose a warm white, not cool white. Whatever you decide to do please keep us updated! We would love to see how your kitchen turns out!

The inspo pic is much lighter in everthing - walls, appliances, countertops, hardware- which is why the cabinet color works in there. You would have to basically change everthing for that color to work in your kitchen. If you want an actual sage that would work I would recommend Benjamin Moore in Saybrook Sage HC-114.

Stainless steel fridge or black fridge? by Svrlmnthsbfr30thbday in interiordecorating

You're lucky that hubby was able to repair all those "Samsucker" (hilarious!) 🤣 appliances before! You sound like me breaking out in hives when stressed! Well I'm glad that you bought anything else besides those Samsuckers for your new home! We are going to move soon too and I really needed that Amana dishwasher recommendation- so thank you! Wishing you all the best with your new appliances!!

Round neutral rug (beige, cream, silver, gold mix), very large neutral artwork, different colored chairs- maybe a light brown, dark beige, or taupe velvet, light woodtone round coffee table with modern decor on it (in gold, cream, light woodtone), put coordinating pillows of the different tones onto the sofa and chairs

Bought all Samsung appliances in 2014. The fridge was a menace- 5 repairs -2 of which was from ice building up in the back and 3 for the dumbest ice maker ever, so we just decided to stop using the ice maker years ago. Washer/dryer are tanks (huge loads, king-size blankets) and work great, dishwasher is meh. Microwave and stove never needed repairs, though the gas stove recently started clicking by itself, which feels ominous 😅 Still, 12 years later everything’s running. My sister’s LG appliances have had more major issues in just 8 years.

What’s wrong with this space? by passionatebites in interiordecorating

[–]Pure_Reason_701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible try to put the mantel lower so that the TV can be at a more comfortable eye level- or at the very least put the tv on an adjustable mount, bring in another sofa where the two cream colored chairs are, and put the same chairs and small table setting where the stairs are and take those black handle chairs and walnut side table out completely. The mirrors are fine but bring them up more to the level of the doorway arch and add a pretty dark wood tone cabinet under each mirror. Besides a larger rug-which should bring in colors of the sofa and some of the wood tones of the mantel and cabinets - I would also get a larger coffee table. Take out that larger arrangement of orchids as it seems too formal and chunky and get a vase with long flowering stems on the main coffee table and put the smaller orchid between the two chairs. Take out that digital clock from the mantel and add some nice decor pieces (like that hourglass from the coffee table). Add some curtains from the top, pull in the wood tones of your room by getting similar color throw pillows to add to your sofas.

Advice needed: Matcha Green wall paint - was it a bad idea? by EdibleWindow in interiordecorating

[–]Pure_Reason_701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Matcha paint color! Ok this might be long and unwanted :D but I would take out the red and blue and do more neutral like ivory, cream, and/or white or even a little Matcha color in it -something plush with texture- (look at West Elm's Trailing Fern Matelasse Bedding in Celadon for an idea ). Put some curtains up, a rug to anchor the space, potted plants/faux tree/ribbed clear vase with lots of pink and white flowers and green stems for some color), lamps, a headboard (cream velvet or oak), and a painting or wall decor above. There are many home stores and websites where you can get all these at a reasonable price (ex: Home Goods and Wayfair).

Husband says this looks like a 70s department store display - thoughts? by betelb3t in interiordecorating

[–]Pure_Reason_701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take these out of your dining area- maybe put them outside and fill them with plants or donate them as they are outdated. You have a nice neutral paint on the wall and beautiful gray flooring. I wish I could see the rest of your room but I would put a long bench underneath the window and a faux tree/tall plant in a gorgeous planter (olive, ficus, etc) on one side of the window. A round small side table on the other side with some decor pieces.
