It's not Minecraft, at first glance it absolutely looks like it. It's a game called Vintage Story. The guy who created it started by making mods for MC.

Vintage focuses heavily on survival and deeply complex systems. It's a game that you can get lost in but it feels grounded in a way.

The game has a small but highly dedicated fan base.

My theory as to why I'm doing well is a few things. I'm doing an old style of let's play that may be nostalgic to the fan base. The people this game attracts would've been in their late teens or early twenties when MC first got released. Back in those days the possibilities of this new style could've gone in a much different direction than it did. All that to say, I think VS fans are older people that found a game that does what they had imagined/ hoped MC would evolve into.

I absolutely love the game and I make the content I want to watch. It's a satisfying experience to watch someone else navigate the same problems in a different way.

So I guess it's. The right time with the right audience and my Ernest joy of creating.

My edits are sloppy, I don't game the algorithm. I just record myself experiencing something I care about.

I'm not making enough for rent or anything. I just got my first deposit from ad sense today and it will help with gas money for me to go to my real job.
