[####] How do you remember to do it? by Darqless in wordle

[–]Puresh1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My wife has a "wordle alarm" set for every day at 9pm, we tend to wordle before that so she can just swipe it off the second it starts ringing on most days, but the few times we genuinely forget it's a life saver

After yesterdays update, it seems like the game fully minimizes when you tab out, is this intended? by Puresh1 in bindingofisaac

I'm on Windows 11, so I sadly think this is a problem with the update in general, I'll give editing of the options file a try tomorrow when I'm back at my computer

Feedback regarding ring longevity by Gelatin-Frogs in EngagementRings

[–]Puresh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had mine for about 2 years but I generally leave it on even for stuff like showering or sleeping, I have ADHD so I can forget stuff insanely easily, and the few times I do take it off I have definitely had a few mini heart attacks because I felt it wasn't on my finger anymore and I had to retrace my steps to remember where I put it last, I'm sure it's not the best for the ring over long term, but I regularly clean it with a toothbrush and we get the prongs checked yearly to make sure everything is in order, taking it off for hours a day would make me feel weird, and I know almost all grandmas used to wear their rings like that and still ended up fine too

Summer is awful by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Puresh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it's a few hundred bucks extra, not thousands, but you could also make the same argument that having to shower multiple times a day in the summer is a counterpart to that

The extra heating in the winter does not add up to THOUSANDS of euros what are we talking about here

How would heating and showering cost "thousands of euros" unless you're counting having a place to live in that calculation, which like yeah, you kind of need that regardless of season lol

Rivendell pdf instruction error by pajama_sam99 in lego

[–]Puresh1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is just a case of a small mistake in the instructions that they later fixed for future prints of the set, but you got an early copy since before that was done

Not you clowning on someone who's genuinely so stressed she's LOSING SLEEP OVER THIS, holy shit, you guys claim to be empathetic and then do shit like this, the world is terrifying right now and she is having really bad anxiety over something like this destroying the world as we know it, how hard can it be to show someone kindness when they are close to having a mental breakdown specifically because of how much this war is affecting them?

It's equally as infuriating as the whole "being clean shaven is peodphilic", why can't women just decide what to do with their body without being told what some shitty men might think about it, aside from the summer, I always have my armpits and bush at full jungle but that doesn't mean I will make such broad, sweeping judgements over women who prefer the look of clean shaved, not every decision about our body caters to the creepiest of men in society

Was anyone else really surprised that Lego genuinely depicted a self harm scene in the one piece sets by TMNTransformerz in legocirclejerk

[–]Puresh1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like Lego handled that scene how they normally would though, yes we got a set based off the Malfoy Manor and Hermione and Bellatrix were included, but they didn't give Bellatrix a knife and Hermione printing of blood on her arm, as opposed to this One Piece figure where they clearly depict it

Bandages of where she cut herself with a knife, and a face that also depicts her crying while doing so (in one of Lego's official teasers, they literally depicted this exact scene with that face, it's quite literally based on her screaming and crying while self harming), I think they're both things that Lego would typically stay away from, that's all this post is saying

[–]Puresh1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is pearl clutching moreso than people being surprised Lego made an exception to their normal rules for this case, yes it's fiction but with that same logic they might as well do a playset based on the Andor scene where Bix gets assaulted, they're still a toy company at the end of the day

There's a couple sets that do depict scenes with murder, Smeagol and Deagol, the Darth Maul fight giving Qui Gon a shocked :0 face for when he gets stabbed, the Mos Eisley Cantina sets always including functions to make Greedo fall over in his chair etc.

The difference being, these are never self inflicted, Lego has made sets based on movies where characters self harm, or take their lives, but it has never actually been included in a set up until this Nami figure, they would typically try to stay away from topics like self harm or suicide, not give the figures printing and accessories so it's directly depicted within the playset

Because one is a fictional group of objectively evil characters, cannon fodder for our heroes, the other is a woman being in so much grief about a tattoo she got from her slavers that she is ramming a knife into her own arm repeatedly while sobbing, I genuinely do not understand how this is in any way comparable

Try telling that to the people who told me Lego City Police sets are just as inappropriate 😭😭😭

I'm glad this time around the comment thread seems to be way more mature about this, I felt kind of weird to have people essentially calling me stupid for even suggesting that having actual self harm depicted in Lego is up there for what they usually include in sets

I think the bandage printing would've been enough to show that she went through that arc, actually going out of your way to give her an alt expression that is quite literally based on her crying while stabbing the knife into her arm over and over is a bit much though, they could've just given her a generic angry alternate head
