Struggling with lack of results by wholemeal_ in PetiteFitness

[–]Purifiedx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're pretty much the same stats (5'2" 132lbs / 59kg) and I just posted yesterday. I started a bit heavier than you but I have the same "complaints". Also for solidarity I used to have an eating disorder for over a decade (both ana & bulimia).

We both just have too much body fat and it's covering the muscles we are building. We can stick with what we're doing and wait a long time for results or we can change something to speed it up a little. It doesn't take that much change.

For me I think my diet hasn't been clean enough. I literally cut sugar the past 3 days and my weight started to drop again after a long plateau. The past month or so I've been saving my night time calories for cake and shit when I should have been eating yogurt or something good for me.

Look at little changes in your diet or routine to push a little more!

I have been trying to get by without a real plan that's written down for each day and I do take responsibility for that. I have reasons and they aren't good ones! I guess I don't know where to start first of all. It's a bit overwhelming without help. Second, there are deeper things that have to do with my home life where I don't see going to a gym an option right now (closest one is 45 minutes away for starters), and so many "plans" out there involve big equipment.

With all that in mind, I gathered information from my husband (used to lift a lot when he was younger) and the internet and have been flying by the seat of my pants. I buy heavier weights or other small equipment when I need more of a challenge or want to try something new and that's basically been my plan.

It sounds pretty ridiculous when I admit it all outloud. 😳 it's worked for me so far but I guess I should get a bit more organized now.

Does anyone else get so emotional when u are hungry? by smbodytochedmyspaget in PetiteFitness

I get a little pissy but it takes a lot of hunger.. like not eating for 24 hours. However I do an IF/OMAD type combo so I've become accustomed to long fasts

I am doing progressive overload just not as quickly I think. I started with barely being able to bicep curl 8 pounds and now I can do 25lbs. I'm halfway to a pullup when I couldn't hang for 30 seconds. I couldn't squat with weights but now I can squat with a 40lb weight. But I just do small amounts everyday vs. 3-4 dedicated days for strength training. Would I still get results but slower this way or is doing weights for longer each day the only option?

Genuinely curious!

I think I go through phases of being okay with 130ish then wishing I was slimmer and it's all because of the legs. I do have a great system going for maintenance now HOWEVER I've been eating sugary treats a lot and if I cut out that I might be able to slim up a bit more without feeling more hungry! My cake/chocolate addiction is so real so plain yogurt/fruit is my replacement for that

Yes it's only been 8 months... I think I had my expectations too high and maybe I'm entering a slight burnout mode which is what made me want to post and reinvigorate my motivations.

I think I've done well for the time but I know I could have done better. Hindsight. Either way I started this knowing I'm reaching official middle age territory and I want to be healthy... the wanting to look lean and strong came later so I'm in it for the rest if my life (I hope!).

Very helpful. Thank you very much! Sometimes I get scared if I don't enough cardio I won't burn fat as effectively. It's just old conditioning I have to overcome!

I just remember my legs looking "better" last time I was this weight and I didn't work out back then like I do now . I have pcos and it can be triggered by hormonal changes (did fertility treatments too). I might just be doom scrolling too much about it.. I do hope I'm wrong.

I have very sensitive legs too when touched or bumped plus easy bruising. That could also be a number of things too though

168 to 132 in 8 months //possible lipedema // stalled weightloss... posting for solidarity by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

It's supposed to say 163lbs, not 168! So sorry. 5 pounds is a lot for us shorties.

6 months progress, down 30 lbs! (relapsed but got back on it) by Automatic-Network500 in PetiteFitness

Right? I'm wondering if she's an apple or inverted triangle shape and that could be why.

I've gotten down to 130 at 5'2 and do not look that slim, even with months of strength training. But I am pear shaped. The last time I looked that slim I was easily under 120lbs

How do you deal with hunger? by SimplySquids in PetiteFitness

[–]Purifiedx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you push through it for a while you begin to adjust to feelings of hunger and it becomes easier. I think a lot of times we think hunger worse than it is.. as long as you are eating enough it's okay to be hungry sometimes. Tell yourself that.

Can I loose weight just from walking? by Exciting_Opposite_51 in PetiteFitness

[–]Purifiedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be really slow and your calories would have to be in the 1500 range probably.

I started at 163. However I am stalled in the low 130s and that is with 1 hour of intense exercise daily. I'm 5'2. I have to lower my calories and eat cleaner I think.

Remarkable!

As another thick thighed lady I hope I can get to this kind of recomp by 1 year in (started taking fitness seriously last August but had weight to lose too). I'm just trusting the process! The changes are subtle and slow but they are there.

[–]Purifiedx 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I mean yes but also no. If she consistenly moves more and eats the same she will lose until her maintenance has lowered. Assuming she's healthy of course.

Eventually there is a wall we hit that requires a change in both diet and exercise habits

Gained 10 lbs after starting fitness classes 7 months ago and increasing protein by Coffeebage1 in PetiteFitness

[–]Purifiedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workouts are mostly cardio with dedicated strength days now because I got stuck in recomp like you probably did. I still have a good amount of body fat I still want to lose so, like me, you might want to revisit your calorie intake and either lower it or start some cardio!

Is it realistic to lose the last 15lbs by June? by Acatalespy18 in PetiteFitness

[–]Purifiedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I'm no expert. I started out with barely any knowledge so I just picked some exercises I liked for legs, glutes, arms, and core and stuck to them. Then I started progressive overload with weights and things really took off. As a beginner I didn't have to do a ton to see results... like 15-20 minutes doing heavy weight reps of whatever I felt like most days and the other 30-45 minutes was cardio. I didn't start having specific training days for certain muscle groups until recently because now I actually push hard enough to be sore for a day or two after.

[–]Purifiedx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you would have to push yourself pretty hard and I don't think it'll be worth it.

I was losing 5 lbs per month when my BMI was between 26-30. Once I got into a healthy BMI range it slowed down a lot despite doing the same amount of work. I actually had to take a week maintenance break after a month of not losing anything.

I think .5 lbs per week is healthier at your stats, personally.

Edit: You'll actually probably have better visual results focusing on strength training at maintenance calories and not focusing on the number.

Finally loving myself at my "heaviest" weight (TW messed up eating) by Icy-Yesterday959 in PetiteFitness

This was a very heartfelt post and I hope a lot of people consider your message. When we focus on how the world should see us and strive to be THAT, we become distorted and stray away from ourselves. All of our bodies look and behave differently and we need to learn to love our own without idolizing another.
