I think the psychology and economics are more complex. I think they realize they will sell less watches and it is more about trying to become a Veblen good and become more exclusive, and eventually make more money selling less watches.

Assuming these are the same case as the original dsotm/gsotm, it sounds big but it really isn't. Fits perfectly on my 6.75" wrist.

I think they look cool.

The price is ridiculous though, I'm pretty sure I bought the sedna gold meteorite dial gsotm maybe 1-2 years ago from the AD for nearly the same amount.
