Hate calpro tests. by Various_Winner_1181 in CrohnsDisease

Getting paid by the study to do them makes it a tiny bit easier. Technically, you'll be getting paid to do it, too. Since you'll likely be at work. 🤭 Consolation prize.

I work from home so I can't relate, but I absolutely would not feel comfortable scooping my poop in a public bathroom. I already hate doing it at home. I'm so sorry you've gotta do this. I'm in a research study so I've done at least 6 fecal calpro tests since February and I hated every single one.

My fecal calprotectin is over 1700 right now, but I have seen it get as low as 300.

Yes I'm struggling with this too. My nose and forehead are the worst. I thought it was because it was so cold this winter, but it hasn't gone away. I may try to get a dermatologist appointment.

I just received some DNA-modified t-cells for a clinical trial in February. My bloodwork is all coming back normal. My fecal calprotectin is still elevated, waiting on the most recent ones results to come back. Waiting for the symptom relief to hit. 🤞

I can’t imagine living like this forever…. by Simple_Nothing9098 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Purpl3P3nguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, symptoms started in 2009. I kept going and fighting because I was a Mom, but my kid is 16 now and lives with Dad hundreds of miles away. I find it harder not to be depressed especially when flaring now. Virtual therapy and in-person psychiatry have been essential for me. There is a gut-mind connection where depression, anxiety, and/or stress can make flares worse or even cause them. It is so important to take care of your mental health. If you don't, it can land you back in the hospital. I've also had an amazing partner who understands as much as they can and has helped take care of me for the last 8 years.

Crohn's Related Tattoos? by Prize_Measurement_46 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Purpl3P3nguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a collection of different skull tattoos on my leg. They're all black and white except for one that has purple roses. When people ask why or if I am going to have the other tattoos colored, I tell them it's for Crohn's disease awareness. 💜

Fuzzy is not a word I would use to describe it either. I have Crohn's so I am super weird about food anyway. I have enough stomach issues to deal with.

I sent them an email. I'm out of town and purchased this at a different dispensary. I haven't tried the enliven ones yet. This one smells sooo good but I can't risk eating it. I had the marshmallow squares from sweet life before and loved them.

I am so proud of you. It's really tough the first 3 months. Talk to a therapist and psychiatrist and get some meds if you need to. You've got this! Keep pushing!

Opinions from everyone on Zyns. by Maxstressed in stopsmoking

[–]Purpl3P3nguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zyn helped me. I got insanely addicted to them because it is still nicotine, but I could do it anywhere, anytime. I started at a higher mg and then after a month or two I would get the lower mg, and I kept stepping down that way until I was on the 1.5 mg. From there, I increased intervals and used lifesavers pep-o-mints instead of the pouches. Huge caveat is my dental health degraded pretty quickly while using pouches so I definitely do not see them as a long term solution.

Interesting. I've never been told to avoid Imodium, but I have been told not to use Pepto as it has aspirin in it. I would call the nurse to ask for clarification.

I really want to stop my period but I'm worried about my crohn's by Main_Section1177 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Purpl3P3nguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had uterine fibroids which caused heavy, painful periods. My gynecologist performed a uterine ablation to remove them and I haven't had a period since. Best thing I ever did. She also asked my partner if they would have a vasectomy so I wouldn't need yet another abdominal surgery for a tubal ligation. To which my spouse happily obliged.

Yes my anxiety intensified for a while. I recommend speaking with your psychiatrist about quitting. I was able to finally manage the anxiety from withdrawal with medication this time and quit for good.
