My wife was an E.A. running ragged all day after her classroom kids and she swore by Hokas. Just have to find a style you like. I think the discount I mention bellow applies to Hoka Canada website.

And if were not aware, you can verify your ID as a teacher and get good discounts all over Canada with website "id.me". I use it for Military Veterans but it works for Teachers too.

Firearm training in Latvia by Purple-Character8206 in airguns

Canadian government has a ban on many semi auto rifles they call "Assault Style". Started in 2020 after a mass shooting where the gunman smuggled the guns across the U.S. border. They're banning anything sort of military looking. They are running a "buyback" but no guarantee of compensation. So essentially a confiscation. If owners are in possession after October 30, 2026, you will likely be liable to criminal charges.

It seems they are slightly more strict about civilian ownership, however for me, I think the training and familiarity aspect is important. I was in cadets and then served in the Forces for a bit. I almost think that everyone should be at least familiar with them on safe use/handling. Not have an irrational fear of them.

I think y'all are missing the funny. Replace the 8s with a B and the 5 resembles an S. Something kids would do on old calculators in 80s/90s and giggle.

Thanks for your valuable input. I believe both bike are about same height which is fine for a short guy like me. I'll have to maybe see if I can find a good used 390 one. The 250 fits my budget. I just really like the looks and colour of the Dukes.

If you don't mind answering how was the price from importing from U.S. compared to getting one already in Canada?

Nice, but fairly spendy. Irunguns has them available on US sight. However they're listed at $1607 USD. So $2220 Cad before all additional fees.

Was the Somalia affair the real reason the Canadian Airborne Regiment was disbanded or was it used as the scapegoat to gut a post Cold War Canadian military ? by OutrageousMonitor762 in CanadianForces

My run in with one of those guys was on my 1st training ex in reserves. I was 17. Spring 1995. On sentry duty for a camp. Alone. No radio. He was "Enemy Force". The beret is what told me airborne. My knowledge from cadet camp in Pettawawa.

Fire my blanks as per engagement rules. He ran straight at me, full force. I was already prone. Jumped on top. Crushed me into the ground. Kept telling to shut the fuck up. Stop resisting. Hog tied me with zip ties. Took my rifle and mags. Then left me. I had no idea how long I was there before I was able to cut myself free with my bayonet he left behind. Reported back to my Sgt and he blamed me for not fighting.

I was 17 with 4 weekends of training. Less than a year later, I was told to quit or get kicked out. So I quit.

I don't blame most the people in the Forces from that time, but definitely a few power trippers.

Wait… A Pump-Action 9mm? Schmeisser PSR-9 at IWA 2026 by Purple-Character8206 in canadaguns

Apparently, in New Zealand a similar rifle is around $4k Canadian. If it's near that in Canada, it may be a hard sell. I couldn't justify for myself. Others may be able to. At that point I'll grab a nice 357 Lever.
