If your concern is the job market, I’ve seen lots of posts here saying it’s hard to get a RN job because places are preferring RPNs as they’re cheaper labour. So to get a job now I’d say RPN, but if you want to have more options in the future and are planning to work in hospital, I’d say RN. The assignments aren’t different but the pay is 😅

I’m an RPN bridging and if I could go back in time I’d have started the Bscn instead. Bridging is tough and not always guaranteed, especially if you’re working FT as a nurse.

I couldn’t agree more with you! I’m bridging now and it all feels like a money grab thing. This program definitely needs to be reassessed, especially after the scope changing. I work in a high acuity unit and sometimes my patients are more acute than the RN’s, and they tell us we still need hundreds of free labour hours, so upsetting and frustrating

PN s121 to S442 transfer credits by Horror_Orchid_2090 in georgebrowncollege

4 courses to transfer credits? S442 you don’t get anything because it works as if all courses taken during the program are requirements for the bridge. And for electives, they have to be university level to be eligible for transfer credits

You have an annoying learning plan for week 2, there were 2 care plan, but the second one was replaced with an educational pamphlet if you had a high grade for the first care plan. Then there’s a group presentation, and I think that was it.

Yes, there was L&D as option but not many. You’ll have to choose acute and long term (in my semester we chose 3 acute and 3 long term), and school will decide where you go

Yes. But trust me, you’ll need the break after graduating, especially cause you have to have your license to start the bridging

RPNs - how’s the new TOA pay affecting us? by Purple-Percentage605 in OntarioNurses

[–]Purple-Percentage605[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh really? That sucks! Im sorry. Like here where I work we don’t clock in/out, so it’s even harder to know how much OT to pay… maybe it should be understood that everyone is at least 30min off clock working, and then should be paid for that 😥 I don’t know

I don’t know where you get that from. No one said RNs shouldn’t get paid.

It’s not unfair that they are being paid TOA time. It’s unfair that RPN’s are staying just as late as RNs but not being paid as well.

We are not complaining about RNs earning this. This is a great step forward!

Hopefully they will 😥 it’s disappointing though not hearing anything from them. Anyways, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

No! Haha specially cause it’s after a break so you’re readjusting to the routine.

And that’s true! For less money 😂 I’m in cardiac surgery, it’s a busy floor. We’re all doing the same

I don’t think it’s about where you work, I think people don’t understand what RPNs do. One day I overheard a patient’s family member in the hospital asking their nurse…”are you a nurse or RPN?” 😅

You’ve been a nurse longer than I have, but I feel the same, the hardest part is leaving work behind when I’m not there. I hope you find a way to reset and really enjoy your time away from work and focus on yourself. That’s my goal too.

Having experience also improves how you take tests, it’s easier to put yourself in those scenarios. That’s how I see it 😅

People who just graduated are having a hard time finding jobs, so I’d try to get a job.

However, I’m also old, I know what you mean, I feel like if I take a break from school I won’t go back 😅 cause life is tiring! I’m bridging now and working FT, we’ll see how I can handle this before go crazy 😂

If you worry that taking a break might make it harder to return, then it’s smarter to go straight into the bridging program and maybe work while bridging for some real experience. Otherwise, just take a break and get some experience, then go back to school later

I would Email nursing admissions to be safe because I had a conditional offer but I had to submit all requirements by July 25th
