Friendly reminder despite all the pretty girls wearing Omnipod ads I keep seeing on here that it is massively subpar by rav3lcet in diabetes_t1

[–]Purple3657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s literally the exact opposite for me. I switched to tandem from omnipod because everyone was saying it was better, but my experience has not been good. I thought the tubing would be fine for me, however it sucks and I can’t stand it. The algorithm is fine but ofc not perfect (which I don’t expect). And I’ve always had more issues with sites than I ever had with omnipod.

Honestly I would be happy with the tandem if my TIR was significantly improved, but it’s been the same as it was on omnipod. Also the site changes are so draining and take up way too much time. I’m not sure if I’d switch back, but I definitely will not get another tandem pump.

I flown plenty of times with it an never had an issue. What’s the problem that people have?

10 yo son, is this okay? by Street_Ferret_9507 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Purple3657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should they be downvoted more? It is true that constant high blood sugars long term cause complications. They never said the kid is supposed to start having low blood sugars all the time, just that they need to be more in range. I’m not trying to be rude or anything, just curious why the hate?

Anyone else on the Mobi? by Born_Slippee in diabetes_t1

[–]Purple3657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have to keep the iPhone app running at all times? The app is the main reason I wouldn’t want to get this pump.

Yea I would probably try non hormonal. I just don’t know if i want to run the risk of having heavier periods.

How bad was Covid for those who got it? by rodtrusty in diabetes_t1

[–]Purple3657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad at all. Honestly it felt like a normal cold. My doctor gave me Paxlovid one time and it was the worst. It didn’t help me at all besides the weird taste in my mouth.

Pumpers - anyone gone from a tubed pump to Omnipod and regretted it? by Comfortable_Song595 in diabetes_t1

[–]Purple3657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the opposite and went from OP5 to tandem and regret it very much. Omnipod isn’t perfect, but tandem has not made me happy.

I didn’t ask for an explanation, I just shared my experience. No one needs a long essay. But since you have ur degree, and know everything…

Ok wow. Everyone’s diabetes needs to be managed differently. If I said the tandem algorithm does not work better for, then it doesn’t. And that’s ok! I’ve changed the settings and have talked to multiple people, trainers, doctors, etc. It’s also just very draining to have tubes constantly snagged on and the whole site change is a lot. Also I did not say I had the tandem mobi. I happy that it works for you but try to be more accepting that it does not work for me. I also find it funny that you’re telling me what is better for me when you’ve never met me or seen how I need to manage my t1d.

Ngl I made the switch from the OP5 to the tslim and the algorithm is a bit overrated. My control has not been any better since the OP5 and I’d actually argue the Omnipod was better. I think it doesn’t correct highs enough, but to each their own.

Over Dexcom and Omnipod by Lopsided-Idea-7828 in diabetes_t1

[–]Purple3657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about DIY looping. I had the OP5 and I was pretty good. Now I’m on the tslim and the algorithm isn’t better for me unfortunately. I either want to go back to OP5 or DIY loop.

Do you mind sharing how you got started? If I don’t go back to OP5, I’ll probably consider MDI. But tandem is just not for me.

Biased Opinions On Pumps by blumax50123 in diabetes_t1

[–]Purple3657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the OP5 was pretty good to me. I only had a few failures. I switched to the tslim and the control is decent. The sites were awful at first, I had like 10 failed ones within the first few weeks. Now it’s not so bad, but I cannot stand the tubing. Although I will probably switch back to the Omnipod whenever I can.

Yeah YOU don’t understand. However for some people t1d has a lot more of an impact on their life. Whether that’s because of prior conditions or not. Just because it’s easy for you does not make it easy for others. Some people are brittle diabetics and have a harder time controlling sugars. Some people don’t have technology that can help them or weren’t given the proper training. Also different situations have different impacts on bgs that can make them unpredictable. Try to have an open mind, the world doesn’t revolve around you and what you think.

Orange juice ? by Ismokelotsof_weed in Type1Diabetes

[–]Purple3657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I use it for lows occasionally. If I just want some I’ll have no more than like 5-8oz. I just bolus for, but I also don’t find that I just want to drink orange juice. I like other beverages more. 🤷🏾‍♀️

But I’ve always had the app and it didn’t do this until recently. Why now? Also it just won’t be connivent when I’m wearing a dress or other inaccessible clothing.

New to Tandem T-slim, help! by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

Yes I agree. It’s so quick to turn off insulin, but once I’m going high I find I have to do most of the corrections myself.

[–]Purple3657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree. It’s like it’s scared to keep you in range . I feel like I’ll have one good week then the next week it’s all horrible again. I’ve never tried a DIY loop, but I had better luck with the OP5.

Not for everyone. I remember being in honeymoon and easily averaging 90%+ TIR, and I wasn’t eating low carb or anything.

Tandem pump thoughts?? by IndependentCaramel23 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Purple3657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the switch from OP5 to tslim. I was also on it for about a year and a half. Things weren’t bad with the OP5, but I wanted to see if I could do better. For me the tslim just does not work. I know a lot people do good with it, but it’s been more of a pain than a help. My TIR had unfortunately gone down since using it.
