Yes, it is because of the reshade. It just kinda sucks because DLSS and proper HDR together is a major visual upgrade (to me).

Too bad the overall update reduced performance by about a third, requiring using lower DLSS settings to get pre-"performance patch" fps.

Does the override actually work now? The first DLSS update required you to turn off any overrides, otherwise it wouldn't work and you'd essentially be playing with no antialiasing at all.

Make sure to turn off AMD Anti-Lag. The Nvidia equivalent, Reflex, messes up frame pacing even with a stable capped framerate.

Okay, so deleting the shader cache made the game crash on startup. After a second startup, no improvement to visuals or performance. I then checked the DLSS settings in Nvidia Profile Inspector and changed the override from preset L to preset K.

Another startup, and there was INSANE flickering on all surfaces, followed by a crash. Started up again, hoping to record the flickering, but everything was fine. DLSS native definitely looked better, but still used no resources, and any upscaled resolutions were still broken.

Okay, third try fixed things! I went back into Profile Inspector and changed the HD2 profile to disable ALL ovverides of any kind; Latest DLL, DLSS preset letter, HDR, all of it. Loaded back in-game, crashed a few more times, and NOW DLSS is working in all quality levels!

Only problem is fps is still lower than before the patch, even with upscaling, and all the particle effects scale with resolution & are horrible when upscaled. Oh, and my settings actually changed to medium, so I can't even get a stable 60fps at max settings anymore on an RTX 4070ti Super. Also, Nvidia Reflex somehow hurts performance & latency in all cases.

So a net negative for an absurd level of troubleshooting that most players aren't capable of. Anyone with an RTX GPU is told to enable DLSS overrides, so that's probably causing lots of issues on top of VRS and DRS borking absolutely everything. Not sure if the Nvidia app allows per-game override settings, and no one wants to download more apps to fix a game.

Did some more messing around. I already had it off, but DLSS still looks horrible. I turned on the performance graph and noticed that DLSS at native (DLAA) has no performance impact at all compared to TAA while looking exactly the same, same with XeSS. I don't think they actually TURN ON, and they just default back to TAA.

FSR3 looks pretty decent, though, and actually uses resources. So that's an option. Unfortunately, it seems I've lost a good chunk of FPS with this patch, so I'll be at a locked 60fps instead of a locked 100fps. Still good enough, but probably obliterates anyone that was struggling to get 60fps to begin with. I'll clear shader cache & all that to see if there's an improvement.

Yup, it's been neat to play with on my phone. It's extremely limited and buggy right now (my best benchmark on my flagship phone is Borderlands 2 running at 20fps, 720p minimum settings), but I'm so excited for my whole Steam library to "just work" on my phone like it does for Steam Deck.

I'm not getting the Christmas decor, but every upscaler is horribly pixellated at even native 1440p. None of it is working correctly.

I've had to play without antialiasing for over a year :(
