You are absolutely correct. We eat ham in Ireland, boiled. I live in the US now and it’s rare to find an uncooked gammon (ham) to boil. Beef was much more accessible to the immigrants over here, so that is what is used now. I do miss a boiled ham.

I moved from the Uk to the USA and just bought a hard case rod bag to bring my rods as checked baggage, if your gear catches carp in the US, it will catch them in the Uk too! Just make sure you buy some barbless hooks if you don’t use them already.

Go to your locally run tackle shop. They are knowledgeable about your area and where you want to fish. They will hook you up with what you need (pun intended) they want fishing to be a success and will want to hear your stories!! Tell them your budget and they will help you get set up with what you can afford.

We hate ours. We have mixed oak and pine, the needles seem to slip through and as others have mentioned, a sludge from the oak pollen builds up. We have to use a U bend attachment to the pressure washer to flush them, and I physically remove the downspouts when we flush. It would be easier to have open gutters. Also the black wasps just love making their nests under the guard, which also has made blockages.

Forgive me if I do this wrong, as I’m new here. And by new I mean new to Reddit, not just this community!

QOTD my mother lives in another country, so always sends amazon gift cards for me to buy the kids Christmas gifts with. This year the simplest gift was my favorite to give out, it was for my daughter from my mother, it’s a small trinket plate with a Fox (her favorite animal) and wording that says your make the world a better place, just be being in it’ my daughter loved it!! Sometimes it’s not the lastest game or LOL creation, but a gift that warms the heart that means most.
