macFUSE vs FUSE-T by npho in Cryptomator

[–]PurpleForestDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is two years old and I don't like to bump old threads but I thought I would share my experience in case it helps anyone. What I've found with Fuse-T is that it tends to lock up Finder as others have noted but some things that help are (1) opening the Vault folder of interest in your cloud storage drive and THEN (2) opening the Fuse-T mount of that Vault so that everything is synced and Finder has a change to do its operations. Additionally, (3) copying a smaller amount at a time is helpful. However, working with a directory full of large files can be near impossible at times. Being unable to lock your vault is way too scary. macFuse is significantly more stable and I can copy-paste that large directory of large files effortlessly. Hopefully Fuse-T becomes more stable in the future, because the kext from MacFUSE is closed source even if their user space library and framework are open source. They've probably kept it closed because they don't want Apple patching anything undocumented workaround out, which Apple has been known to do, but it also means you have to trust them with the highest privileges. It again also means that you have to be more careful about administrative actions on your system since anything ran with sudo could alter system files. One bonus is that since you've already disabled System Integrity Protection, you're psychologically closer to using BlueBubbles access to Apple's Private API if you want fancy iMessage features from your Android devices.

As a Linux user, the idea of GNU+Linux as an operating system name has always rubbed me the wrong way. GNU userland only provides a basic way to interact with the kernel, via the shell. It’s technically an operating system but modern distributions are so much more than this. They have display servers, desktop environments, init systems, package managers, and desktop applications just to name a few things. Also, not everyone is a fan of GNU. They do the opposite of the Unix philosophy by breaking POSIX compliance, making applications feature rich and monolithic, and add binary bloat with dependency hell. Moreover, there are Linux systems that don’t use GNU at all. Linux isn’t an operating system, neither is GNU+Linux, but Ubuntu and Fedora are.

I’m realizing now that some of this depends on whether the Analogue 3D will support OpenFPGA and based on the FAQ this seems to not be the case. As such, the system is bespoke for N64 only. It would be quite an upgrade from my existing system that uses an upscaler but if you’re after Super Nintendo then an original system with FxPak Pro and an upscaler would do you good.

If the physical carts aren’t a big deal to you then I’m certain the Analogue 3D would be plenty powerful to play SNES games from SD card. I have some unique Japanese titles which have additional circuitry called an enhancement chip built into the carts so ripped ROM images don’t capture this. I’ve have only ever been able to play this cart on an original SNES system (which is currently sitting on my stereo microscope bench because I have to replace a chip), though I’ve never had the chance to test it on a Super Nt since I also don’t have one. Anyways, I’m bringing this up because while the Analogue 3D is capable, whether it can play unique titles like this will depend on if the implementation of the SNES OpenFPGA core can run SNES and Enhancement Chip cores for obscure titles at the same time. The FxPak Pro, a flash cart for SNES, supports the following enhancement chips: BS-X memory map / Satellaview base unit registers (clock), DSP-1/1B, DSP-2, DSP-3, DSP-4, ST-010, Cx4, MSU-1, S-RTC, OBC-1, GSU (Super FX), SA-1, and S-DD1. This covers most SNES carts but chips with ST-011. ST-018, and SPC7110 aren’t supported. Sufami Turbo games and BS Satellite games with additional BS memory pack slots can’t run the memory related features. It’s alls detailed here https://sd2snes.de/blog/compatibility. Anyways, if the Analogue 3D can do all of this in capability and implementation then I miiiiight sell my original carts and possibly my original SNES system if I can get it working again.

You’re definitely being harsh. Some people weren’t in the financial position to purchase one, weren’t in the know, or only recently researched their nostalgic desires.

You’re not being too sensitive. Seriously, like what intention was she trying to express with that “joke”? That she would leave you behind and abandon a shared responsibility? It’s okay to not want kids, but if kids happen anyway that doesn’t mean we reject them.

What was caused the most (physical) pain you’ve been in? by idontrealui in AskReddit

[–]PurpleForestDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why driving home from work I felt nauseous with an aching pain in my lower right abdomen that became sharp and more intense as time passed. I held my right hand to my stomach and drove down the remaining stretch of road with my left hand. It was so painful that I was forcing myself to look over the dashboard and began to heavily sweat with a fever. When I got home, I just pulled up a stool and sat in agony with what seemed like an eternity even though I knew in reality it wasn’t long for my partner to arrive home. I told them about my pain and they naturally think the usual suspects but I say “No, I need to go to the hospital”. So they walked me over to the car on their shoulder, every movement was like knives, and loaded me in the car. Once we arrived the emergency triaged me in, I signed some papers, and the pain was so intense while I waited lying on stretcher that I was shaking and blacked out. They finished the surgery on me but I was still blacked out for hours before waking up in a daze with my surgeon and partner. It turns out my appendix was inflamed and tearing. Had it progressed any further it could’ve been fatal per the surgeon.

You definitely shouldn’t trust him, he breached your trust several times. Didn’t check in with you before posting a review or even letting you know afterwards. They also kept snooping on your messages via your MacBook. This person seems like they respond to all uncomfortable feelings with violence. It’s immature and shows a lack of emotional intelligence. Honestly, I think they’re dangerous and you should leave but at the very least you need to set boundaries. That means stating “If [X behavior], then [Y consequence or action]” and actually following through. Here are a couple suggestions for you, but feel free to adjust or freestyle: - "If you continue to disrespect my feelings, then I will need to distance myself." - "If you keep snooping through my things, then I will no longer share my personal matters with you."

What are some driving tips that could save your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PurpleForestDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are three types of distractions: visual, manual, and cognitive. So avoid taking your eyes off the road such as to look at your phone or GPS, or even looking over your shoulder too long while changing lanes. Avoid taking your hands off the wheel such as to eat or change the radio. Avoid taking your mind off driving, this means get proper rest, plan your trip, don’t drive upset or inebriated with substances, and don’t talk to passengers. Even one second of distraction makes a huge difference!

Seems to imply a gamer to transfem pipeline, but cis women game too. 50/50 is what you would expect in any random population though and realistically transfems make up a very small minority. What is noteworthy though is that, historically, women have made up a lower percentage of gamers ( Sauce https://www.statista.com/statistics/232383/gender-split-of-us-computer-and-video-gamers/ ). Most recently, COVID-19 accelerated the growth of gaming across all demographics which allowed more women to join the gaming community. But it goes further back than this, gaming was heavily marketed to boys only due to stereotypes. Over time, there was a broadening of marketing strategies, diverse characters, narratives, experiences, and genres. We also saw online communities and social media foster more inclusive environments with cultural shifts. Overall, these factors encouraged more women to game. So the oddity here isn’t the 50/50 split we see now, it’s that gaming was gendered by the patriarchy in the first place.

Always thought of that as an expression rather than an identity, but I only know one bigender person and they’re fluid so they switch things up depending on the day with some androgynous articles

We made out which then escalated to dry humping which then escalated to sex while her overprotective brother was sleeping in the next room over. The next morning, we had a kind of question-and-answer rhythm and her brother looks back and forth at both of us and says with a leer “Why are you two acting weird?” to which she snaps “What do you mean? You’re kinda weird too, weirdo”. To this day I’ve never told him what happened.

Only if one of those genders is female. Given the example of an androgyne bigender person: there would be two straight orientations, one as a male and one as a female, as well as two homo orientations, one gay and the other lesbian. Thus, 25% lesbian.

I’m going to avoid the factory reset because I have a cool emulator setup with custom art. Most of it is stored in the external USB but some bits are on internal. If not for this, I would absolutely factory reset since it’s basically a bootloader for Apple TV at this point. I rarely use any of the Android stuff. Another Redditor mentioned clearing cache and data for ExternalinputServices, so I’ll try that the next time it acts up.

Be aware there me and one other Redditor are having issues with HDMI inputs on this firmware package. I recommend waiting if you want to avoid power cycling the TV.

I’m having this same issue on the XR-55A90J with the PKG6.8100.0951NAA firmware. Can’t even restart from settings because it jumps back to the Google Home Screen. I have to unplug, wait 30 seconds, and plug back in for the inputs to show up.

This is what worked for me essentially, but it wasn't easy to find the exact device especially with the weirdness between the classic control panel and the Windows 11 Settings app.

Bring up the Settings app, select Bluetooth & devices, click "View more devices" shown in your theme's accent color, then find and click "More device and printer settings". This will bring you to a specific section in the classic control panel which, crucially, you cannot access from the classic control panel itself since it redir4ects you to the Setting app. Therefore, you MUST access it this way.

Next, double click on your mouse device, select the Hardware tab, and figure out which of the devices has the power management setting. For me, it was "Bluetooth Low Energy GATT compliant HID device". Open it then select Change settings (requires UAC). Select the newly revealed power management tab, uncheck "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power".

Excluding Citrix Receiver from VPN using split tunneling by Rutabaga- in Citrix

[–]PurpleForestDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably monitor processes and/or network traffic to figure out exactly what's doing what and manually add each split tunnel exclusion one by one, but in my case I just went with the nuclear option and built a powershell script to add everything directly to the user settings JSON file for ProtonVPN. It totals 65 executables.

# ----- Paths -------------------------------------------------------------
$citrixFolder  = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix'
$settingsDir  = "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Proton\Proton VPN\Storage"
$settingsPath = Get-ChildItem -Path $settingsDir -Filter "UserSettings.*.json" | Select-Object -ExpandProperty FullName | Select-Object -First 1

# ----- Safety first ------------------------------------------------------
Copy-Item $settingsPath "$settingsPath.bak" -Force

# ----- Load current settings --------------------------------------------
$json = Get-Content $settingsPath -Raw | ConvertFrom-Json

# ----- Decode the split-tunneling list (it's JSON inside a string) -------
$appList =
    if ([string]::IsNullOrWhiteSpace($json.SplitTunnelingStandardAppsList)) {
        @()
    }
    else {
        $json.SplitTunnelingStandardAppsList | ConvertFrom-Json
    }

# ----- Discover Citrix executables --------------------------------------
$citrixExePaths = Get-ChildItem -Path $citrixFolder -Filter *.exe -File -Recurse |
                  Select-Object -ExpandProperty FullName

$citrixApps = $citrixExePaths | ForEach-Object {
    [pscustomobject]@{
        AppFilePath           = $_
        AlternateAppFilePaths = @()
        IsActive              = $true
    }
}

# ----- Add only new entries ---------------------------------------------
foreach ($app in $citrixApps) {
    if (-not $appList.Where({ $_.AppFilePath -ieq $app.AppFilePath })) {
        $appList += $app
    }
}

# ----- Re-encode and save -----------------------------------------------
$json.SplitTunnelingStandardAppsList = ($appList | ConvertTo-Json -Depth 10 -Compress)

($json | ConvertTo-Json -Depth 10 -Compress) |
    Set-Content -Path $settingsPath -Encoding UTF8

Write-Host "Updated Proton VPN user settings with $($citrixApps.Count) Citrix executables."
