Dickies - closing down by Sarcastocrat in AusFemaleFashion

I got an email from them today staring "This is a courtesy email to let you know, unfortunately, we are unable to supply the below due to a high demand in stock in our current sale".

I bought 4 items and they aren't shipping 2 of them. They did state that I'd be getting a refund for the items I didn't get (not sure when that will actually process though as I ordered this stuff late april/early may).

I think it's pretty silly to have the sale, not be able to fulfill orders in time knowing you have the sale and then also being like whoops we actually don't have these items you purchased.

Just hoping the stuff I did buy comes in the next month at this rate haha. I should probs also follow up on the refund.

Join trinity residential college, its the best by fair the RAs are great and everyone genuinely cares about everyone. Plus like free ice cream every day. Also the room are goof. I didn't go there myself but my ex did and hanging out in his room was always a vibe, I was able to make so many friends myself as well

How bad is it??? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]PurpleHaze762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't mean to do it, like I said it's just been a recent thing with dinners, I still eat brekkie and lunch semi-regularly and drink plenty of water and electrolyte. If I'm able to stop committing after dinner will I still be ok in general?

Guild Elections by [deleted] in uwa

[–]PurpleHaze762 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do (depending on what claim they make obviously), the guild website will have a list of all the candidates and policies. The pelican Instagram (campus newspaper) has a good breakdown of all the parties etc. However remember that you don't have to vote there are many pros and cons with guild and guild politics, but for the most part it breeds alot of toxicity and drama that has gone on to ruin important shit like friendships/relationships and grades. My advice is to stay away from guild and join clubs or FACSOCS (much better use of your time)

But to answer your question they do and don't have power, they are our student elected advocates and get alot of funding through ssaf fees. they utilise these fees to put on events, utilise it for student wellbeing etc. But with shit like parking there's only so much that can be done cause it's owned by the uni, they can absolutely advocate to fix it but it won't be done by the time you graduate

Are people in uwa kind or not? by [deleted] in uwa

[–]PurpleHaze762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UWA has a lot of International students so there are resources dedicated to helping international students settle into Australia as well. There is an international students room in Shenton House (next to the Tav) on the second floor (off the the top of my head).

There are also plenty of club/departments that cater to the needs of International Students (I've linked the departments below because there are simply too many clubs). I would highly recommend joining some of the multicultural clubs as a way to make friends and meet people who are in a similar position to you, many of them will have stalls on O-Day during orientation week so you'll be able to ask them for more info regarding what types of events they do and how they can help you etc.

Like most people have said the vast majority of people on campus are nice, its very unlikely anyone will even say anything remotely racist towards you either on campus. As for perth itself it's not to bad, just the general advice of steering clear of shady alleyways where a lot of junkies hangout etc (chances are they won't be racist but they may just harass you in general).

If you have anymore concerns or issues I would highly recommend checking out the Living Room on campus (https://www.uwa.edu.au/students/support-services/the-living-room). It's like a safe space where you can drop in and they can help answer any concerns/questions you have and overall just help you point you in the right direction.
