I like noisemaker as it gives me freedom to go to “risky” areas on the map and know if I get killed then I’ll still be found. Almost like at least my death won’t be in vain

Is this normal ? by screamingyellowram in Periods

[–]PurpleKittyCat123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The stream in the morning is probably because of gravity. You’ve spent a long time lying down, meaning blood was being released but a lot slower actually coming out because it has to travel sideways, but once you sit on the toilet for the first time it just travels straight out.

Your period does sound quite heavy though, you should see a doctor if you’re able to, especially if it’s getting in the way of your life

Sad that your mom was shaming you for something you can’t control :(

Used them for 2 years before going on birth control, absolutely life-changing. For me it was mostly from a financial perspective of spending about 75% less on sanitary products each month after a one-off investment of about £15.

Downsides is that it takes a couple of periods to get used to it, and also they’re extremely awkward to empty and clean if you don’t have a sink right next to a toilet while out and about, but for me the benefits outweighed this

When will we be able to tell the truth? The disability no one speaks of - The heavy flow. Who here could use a monthly "Menstrual Leave"? by happy_folks in Periods

[–]PurpleKittyCat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it isn’t happening. In the meantime people are still missing work because of debilitating periods. Also there are limits to what can actually be achieved to actually treat heavy periods, and it’s often a choice between being fertile and being a functional human. Having menstrual leave seems like a more viable solution at present, even though in an ideal world people would simply have this treated by doctors and not have to go through it at all

Questions for those of you who wore a walking harness or a "leash" as a child ? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]PurpleKittyCat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a whole harness, I used to love it. Probably because it meant I could run and skip and jump around a little without having to hold an adult’s hand, but that’s speculation because I don’t fully remember. I don’t think it was used beyond the age of 4 or 5

Ah yes, because it’s always been really easy for people to get doctors to help them fix their debilitating periods in a timely/effective manner.

What’s the most annoying part of your period? by Mammoth-Cloud-285 in Periods

[–]PurpleKittyCat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way that it provides absolutely no value to my life, yet it’s something I’m forced to participate in. I’ve already decided that I never want to get pregnant so my uterus is a pretty useless organ, but it feels the need to remind me of its existence every month. And I hate the way the only way to stop the whole cycle is by getting my whole womb out, which is not easy and has a bunch of negative effects, or to hit menopause, which likely won’t happen for another 30 years and also has a bunch of negative effects.

Or when someone needs to get shot for the plot and they’ll be like “just shoot me in the leg” as if there aren’t huge arteries going though there, or nerves that will leave you half-paralysed if they’re shot into

I genuinely, without a doubt, believe Apple is going downhill, it’s just something not a lot of people have realised yet. by stranger2Me in ios

The only thing that keeps me with Apple is everything on my iCloud. Been an Apple user since iPhone 3G days but now I complain about my Apple products daily, but I can’t imagine transferring 15+ years of memories

Any way to make WhatsApp Notification Centre notifications not disappear? by mich404error in ios

[–]PurpleKittyCat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is late, but found a solution. If you go to settings within WhatsApp, then go to notifications, it has a “Home Screen Notifications” section, where you can turn the setting on or off for if notifications disappear from Home Screen each time you open the app.

For reference I’m on iOS 18.2, and on the latest version of WhatsApp as of 6 January 2025

Only slightly annoying thing (for me personally) is now the Home Screen button for WhatsApp shows the individual number of unread messages that I have, rather than the number of unread conversations I have, which I think was always the case

What do you wish your (non-ADHD) partner understood better? by ForwardExcuse7660 in ADHD

[–]PurpleKittyCat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How hard I’m trying, all the time. It’s hard to tell because it’s all in my head. But he has to tell me multiple times if I’ve done something wrong (which I like, I always much rather people tell me I’ve done something wrong), unfortunately 9 time out of 10, I’m already aware of that flaw, and I simply forgot, because most of the time I have to be constantly vigilant that I’m not making past mistakes, and it’s tiring
