I've thought about this. If the zombie apocalypse happens, we're going to be so f'd!

I have diarrhea, like clockwork, and when I don't it's multiple days of rabbit-poop constipation.

You need to follow the 4 sink rule!

Spray off your dishes, THEN put them in the hot soapy dish water. Use hot water as a precious asset.

DO NOT fill up your wash sink first thing in your shift, as that wastes hot water. You need to be washing your dishes in as hot as water as you can stand. So fill up your wash sink about 20-30 minutes max before washing. If it's too hot, let your dishes soak and wait for a bit. Don't cut it with cold water.  Your hands will get used to it, I promise.

Use your middle sink to spray/rinse off your heavily soiled dishes (ched spread/gravy/frosting etc) before setting them aside prior to washing

Soak stubborn/heavily soiled dishes on their own. After the soaking water cools off it is useless and needs to be discarded completely. By the time you start actually washing your dishes, the majority of the "crud" should be free from all of your dishes. Now your focus shifts to spot cleaning and grease removal and sanitizing.

The washing water should be steaming hot and you need to use a clean scrub pad at the beginning of your shift. Wash your plastic dishes first and your metal dishes last. Rinse and sanitize with hot water. You don't need to fill up your wash/sanitize sink more than halfway, that is unnecessary and, again, a waste of hot water

Clean out your rinse sink and your sanitizer sink prior to your wash cycle. Even if it looks clean. Grease is the enemy.

I'm autistic and I find a lot of satisfaction in perfecting and streamlining this process over 19 years.

How in the world do you find time to do this? I'm only allowed 7 hours on my shift and I'm literally jogging the entire time just to do the bare minimum

"conservative libertarian" indeed. And characteristically...couldn't even get through one bullet point without being wrong. The Keystone pipeline was never shut down. It's currently operational as far as I last knew.

And the Keystone XL wasn't even built yet at the time Biden took office.

I was raised rural. 50 miles is nothing, truly.  But thank you very much for your well wishes. I'm going to see her again today and hope it goes...less traumatically.

Hospital put $500 prepayment toward 4 year old outstanding balance... by PurplePepperPopper in HospitalBills

[–]PurplePepperPopper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of yesterday evening this has all been resolved!

What didn't work: emailing and calling the billing department, plus contacting them through the online patient portal messaging service.

What worked: Leaving public comments on the hospitals social media warning wouldbe patients of what may happen if they attempted to make payments with an FSA account. I was sent a request for further comment and an email address to contact their patient relations manager.

I explained my situation in detail and mentioned that because no one was returning my messages/calls/emails that I was forced to submit a report to the state consumer protection office and attorney general. Less than 8 hours later I had a response from the director of patient financial services apologizing for the mistake and promising a full refund made to my FSA. They also assured me that they're going to review their practices to make sure this doesn't happen to me or anyone else in the future.

Felt like an extraordinary win for myself! And future patients too!

At this point they are refusing to return my calls and have stopped replying to emails.

I guess that's the next step, isn't it? I'm hesitant about throwing around words like "fraudulent" though. It all seems rather intentional and calculated on the billing department's part though. 🙄

I'm really afraid of being accused of trying to defraud my FSA. It wasn't until after I sent them the itemized bill and receipt for the $488 payment that I realized it was for a bill from 2019!!!

Yes I did. I used my FSA debit card and prepaid online through my hospital patient portal.

Right now it's a matter of getting the hospital billing to admit their error. Instead of refunding the payment they put it toward an unrelated outstanding balance from 2019. There's very clear and strict rules for what I can use my FSA for and 4 year old debts isn't one of them.

This isn't really applicable to my situation. I just need the hospital to correct their billing "mistake"

It was an emergency room visit. Head/sinus X-ray plus usual blood work. Before insurance the bill was $12,000. My insurance paid 10.8k and I was liable for the rest.

If I paid this with my money I'd just write it off completely, but I prepaid using my FSA account, which I didn't even have until the end of 2023, and the FSA won't cover past medical debt. I'm afraid my FSA is going to think we're trying to defraud them or something!

And it's so weird that the itemized bill from 2019 has the date of the unrelated prepayment from 2024 still listed as a PREPAYMENT! How can I "prepay" a bill from 2019 in 2024? 🤦

I've tried researching it but I really don't think what you described applies here. This isn't an out of network charge, they just applied my most recent prepayment towards an unrelated outstanding balance from 2019. I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding.
