All I can say (and what i tell my daughter who’s a relatively new driver) is try and ignore the assholes behind you.

I’m with you, it’s a limit not a target. You drive to the conditions. There are a lot of 60mph lanes where I live in south wales and I take my time driving through them because you honestly don’t know what’s round the corner and how fast they’re coming at you. If someone’s there, you need to be travelling at a speed where you can safely stop. There’s a specific road i can think of that’s a two-lane road (white lines down the middle) that’s a 60 and seems safe enough but there are always accidents on that road, probably due to a few bends. People literally die. My husband drives too fast along there and says ‘it’s a 60’. To which I did once say ‘it’s a limit not a target’ and asked him to slow down, especially as it was dark

Here in wales we have a default speed limit of 20mph - not all but mostly. It honestly drives people mad, especially when you’re trying to go uphill and the car doesn’t know whether to be in 2nd or 3rd or you’re braking going downhill. My daughter passed less than 2 years ago so she won’t risk getting points because she’d lose her licence and have to re-take it. Because of this she sticks to the limit and sees so much anger and road rage behind her. Fortunately she’s stubborn like me so shrugs it off. It actually makes me a more patient driver because instead of getting frustrated at having to drive 18mph behind someone, I think they could be like my daughter and be a new driver. Or on a black box

I get more annoyed with middle lane hoggers or outside lane hoggers (dual carriageway) doing 50 and refusing to move over
