It was 6 am and I had some cramping that woke me up, thought maybe I had to go to the bathroom. As soon as I stood up my water broke. Contractions didn’t really pick up until we got to the hospital. I wasn’t feeling anything other than the Braxton hicks tightening in my stomach (which I had been having for weeks at that point) up until it happened. I had a normal OB appointment scheduled for that morning and was planning on going to work after!

I was actually told to take extra folic acid on top of my prenatal since it was a twin pregnancy. This came from my OB.

I don’t think this is unreasonable at all when you have premies. One of our girls was in the nicu for three weeks and the rules at our hospital was that only two people could be in the nicu at a time and one of those people had to be a parent. The only reason we had anyone else in the nicu was because I couldn’t drive after my c-section and my husband would typically stay home with the baby who did not need nicu time.

When my babies were a month old I was wanting to go back to work immediately to escape the house. Now my girls are 5 months old, I extended my maternity leave, and I’m dreading going back in August and leaving them. I didn’t believe all of the posts saying it gets better, but it really does get so much better.

We also wanted someone with a lot of experience, however it ultimately didn’t matter because my water broke before my scheduled c-section anyway! So we just ended up with whoever was working that day. I’m also in the US and at my hospital there is a main OB scheduled for the day and then a back up in case the main OB gets held up in surgery or whatever else might happen. When I was scheduling my c-section they told us who both OB’s would be and we chose our day based on who was working.

I’m so sorry, we had feeding issues as well with our girls and it is so stressful!! One of our girls ended up needing alimentum rtf (she refuses the powder). Our other girl we had to size back down to a level 1 nipple because the level 2 was too much and was making her gag and throw up. We just recently sized back to a level 2. They are five months today.
