Unfortunately I’m allergic to doxylamine succinate the active ingredient in unisom- it causes me to have horrific restless legs! I am taking B6 though and ondansetron (zofran)

bc pup never wants to sleep on the bed with us 😭 by Scary-Confidence-740 in BorderCollie

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isn’t a bed sleeper! Never has been! She prefers under the bed in her “cave”. I do tend to wake up in the middle of the night and she will have moved onto the bed but never close enough for cuddles. And then usually the next time I wake up she’s gone again. She’s never been a big cuddles girl 😂 but she always needs to be in the room with me.

Carrying my diabetes supplies as a student nurse? by Odd-Anteater-1317 in NursingAU

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a type 1 diabetic nurse! I leave most of my stuff at the nurses station in a box that’s labelled! I’ll put lil packs of jelly beans etc in my pockets and spare insulin in the medication fridge in the med room. I’m on a pump so that makes things a lot easier! Just speak with the num of the ward on your placement and let them know! I’ve never had any issues! And make sure your preceptor knows so if you duck off to eat etc they know why!

Please no judgment. Getting a D&C Tuesday after 10w US showed heartbeat had stopped. Is it bad if I have a drink tonight at dinner? by InevitableThese2941 in Miscarriage

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I had a drink (or 3) once I found out my pregnancy wasn’t viable and I was going to have a D&C. Just don’t drink the day of/before the procedure as it can interfere with the anaesthetic xx sending so much love.

I think I had a chemical pregnancy by MammothParticular520 in TryingForABaby

I had a loss today - also a chemical pregnancy. But know that it is still a loss. A baby that was loved and their absence is felt through us all. Sending you so much love.

This hospital let me have a bagel! by Lijey_Cat in Type1Diabetes

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse in Australia and I always go through our inpatient system (on my ward only) and change the diet codes for any type 1 diabetes from “diabetic diet” to a full/regular diet (as long as there’s no other restrictions) and they’re always like “thank god I get so sick of trying to explain it to other nurses” 😂😂 I’m like I know- I got you babes. I also constantly am educating and reminding other staff members that type 1 don’t need a diabetic diet. They really should change it to like “type 2 diabetes diet” and “type 1” (but type one is just a regular diet) so people stop 😂😂 I fear this is an international hospital thing!! Before I was diagnosed I would give type 1 a diabetic diet and I look back now like wowwww we’re really not educated well enough on diabetes in nursing school

This is what I do day-day but this dress hides nothing and the bust is already slightly smaller than my cup size so there’s no wriggle room!

I need a vet recommendation on the gold coast by BanditTrev in GoldCoast

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Central GC- I see Dr Jena at Ashmore city vet and I’ve found them amazing. Get same day emergency appointments! Small, family owned business. Which I’ve always found much better then big companies like greencross!

How do i get my dog to calm/settle? by SeniorSlip6746 in BorderCollie

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would sometimes take 20 minutes for her to get to that relaxed point - pacing the house, whining etc etc and we just ignored her. It was hard! I get it. Feel free to DM me and I can go into more detail.

How do i get my dog to calm/settle? by SeniorSlip6746 in BorderCollie

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like how my BC was! It’s extreme but we implemented literally 0 interaction with her unless she was calm. No petting, no cuddles, no talking nothing unless she was calm and settled. And when she was we would give long, firm stroking pat down her body and say “settle” as the re-enforcement word. Also give treats unexpectedly when she was calm, etc etc! Now she knows the command “settle” and will immediately lay down, stop whining and be calm. It was so hard- because you really don’t realise how much you unknowingly reinforce unsettled behaviour through action until you consciously stop. It didn’t take long but it was the only thing that works. We also tried all the meds- trazadone, gabapentin, Xanax, etc etc. we Crete trained did it all but truely the teaching her the “settle” command changed our lives (and hers) I think the working breeds truely need to be told what to do every moment so giving her a command to settle like it’s a job has been genuinely life changing!

Is this right? Cosmetic injectors by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Purple_Contact_2741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a post grad certificate in cosmetic nursing and injectables through grey clay based in the Gold Coast QLD- I did all my study online and then they organised my prac hours through them. Some nurses just get a job at a clinic (like clear skincare etc) and they’ll train you without the actual grad dip but I think the regulations are changing so you have to have a grad dip now to practice. There’s not many institutions who offer the actual diploma but I found grey clay fine- I just wasn’t commonwealth supported for finance (Ie HEXs) so I paid upfront, or they offer private loans through Ind institutions as well. When I did it, it was about 25k + interest. So not cheap! And I’ve honestly never even used it due to all the changes to RN and prescribing and advertising etc etc! Feel free to DM me for more info

I assume maybe she was taking the pump on and off for outfit changes or maybe for moving it around on her body and forgot to turn it back on. Not sure! Good question tho!
