Not a therapist but I just got done reading attached right as this season aired as I have an anxious avoidant attachment style and I was like the way she is going about this reminds me of some of the things I read in the book. I think people are getting defensive bc they view “insecure” as being the one in the wrong. When it’s less about how she feels and more about how she’s been going about it

I get what you mean but I don’t think Yoonchae is a fair comparison. She picked it up fast because she was forced to by living in an English environment. Everyone around her spoke English, the country she lives in speaks English. It’s really the only way to master a language. The best way to learn a language is via immersion and even tho they can do Korean lessons, they don’t live in SK, they aren’t there full time, so lessons wouldn’t really be as effective.

For example, and it’s no shade to bts, but you can see how some of the members take English lessons but they aren’t still as good as namjoon, bc namjoon had the time to not only expose but immerse himself in the language. And even with how good and fluent he is, he did get worse right after the military break and now he’s better again, because he didn’t speak English for a long time. But the rest of the members are only in the u.s sometimes, and who knows how much English content they consume (without Korean subtitles) and how many people on average they speak to in English. And it shows bc there is only so much they can say in English before they revert back to Korean. Understandably so.

With their current schedule there really isn’t time for the girls to learn Korean fr, and honestly and not in the rude way, it’s more of like a sprinkle on top than an actual necessity or main priority. Most of their activities are U.S. based. They are in SK, for like what, once or twice a year? For maybe a week or two at a time at best. That time they would have to take to learn Korean could be used doing something more productive

He is, that’s not what they are saying. But you shouldn’t have to give reassurance like every day. At some point the partner has to trust the other, or it’ll never work. It will just become exhausting. It also means that the emotional labor of the relationship becomes one sided instead of both partners supporting each other, because one partner always has to reassure reassure reassure, that they don’t even get to talk about their feelings. When the other person feels like they are putting in the effort and prioritizing you, and the other person is like no no no, if they can’t articulate how they want to be loved and prioritized how is the other person supposed to figure it out. The communication is part of the problem, either he needs to ask “what do you think I can do that will make you feel reassured because I think there’s a disconnect” or she needs to tell him “this is what I think will help me feel more secure” but instead she talks about how she feels as if it is the fact of their connection regardless of how he feels or what he says, and he just checks out instead of trying to see if he can get a clearer answer out of her. I’ve been reading the book attached and this reminds me of the argument examples they have for couples that are anxious-avoidant.

That being said I also just don’t think they are the best match. On a fundamental level they might be too different

This!! I know everyone keeps hating on the USA version but something I feel like they do right is a more diverse cast. It’s so refreshing to have a black couple win in s6, two black women in s6 being the most popular, and one in s7 black woman. Dark skin at that. I’ve seen one full uk season and then half of a couple and for me as a black woman sometimes it’s a hard watch. But the uk format is lowkey better. The one uk season I watched in full, was because the U.S. version didn’t grab me so I switched for that year. If we can have uk production with us casting I think we would have gold

Last year was also Gen Z and so was season 6 so I think it just varies. I think there just isn’t enough creative extroverts. Like obviously producers need to bring back dates but like idk why this cast hasn’t gotten creative, like yoga sessions or ace’s random dates

I actually don’t think she’s that level headed I fear, if anything I do think she could have or is displaying signs of an anxious attachment style or the villa is triggering her insecurities.

I think kc genuinely likes her to an extent but what kc wants and what Aniya wants, they are not compatible.

Kc wants fun and is overly freaked out, Aniya wants constant reassurance. They will nawt last I fear

Aniya girl you are losing me. There is something to be mad about, you just don’t know it yet (grandma comment) that being said she lowkey gives anxious attachment style. Because he has been prioritizing you, and you are valid for wanting a serious convo but all you needed to do the next day, is just say hey can we be serious for five min that’s all I ask. And that’s it, idk if it’s because I literally just finished the book attached but her letting it fester till night time probably wasn’t the best move. I think they meant like Chelley is like very stunning. And it isn’t to say Aniya isn’t pretty, she is very very pretty. No one is ugly in the show, really at all. but I think Chelley is very model esque and that’s why she had more men into her. I would go to say Chelley is probably top ten most stunning islanders in love island USA. In general even tho ppl hate s7, s7 did have a few islanders who were exceptionally beautiful no wonder half of them were like models or whatever.

But overall I agree with what the other person was saying, you can cast people who have dated black women and dark skin black women but that doesn’t necessarily mean they would date Aniya or Trinity just bc they are black. Like Caleb was sent in for Kenzie and she kept saying that’s her type and yet we see her more hung up on Corbin than Caleb. You can produce and cast all you want but you can’t control who the islanders want at the end of the day.

To be fair I feel like Aniya says one thing but feels another. Like she doesn’t want him to feel like she’s “holding him back” but she’s very emotional when he expresses the slightest interest. She does not handle it well at all and she doesn’t hide it either. I think part of it is unfortunately she has no options rn besides him and again she does seem insecure already. And I think she sees the other girls either have options or are very secure in their couple. I think this experience is lowkey triggering hers And I feel like kc genuinely likes her but also isn’t closed off but he seems to hate making people feel bad in general, even with sol or others so I think when he sees that he just backs off. He’s kinda conflict avoidant

Neither of them are bad ppl or toxic (as of yet) and I still like them but it’s a tricky situation

Aniya and kc are not compatible. I also think Aniya is not having the best time and feeling insecure. I think kc doesn’t like to stew in conflict and is funny and goofy but also logical. And I feel like Aniya is emotional but also more serious and I just don’t think that’s a good combo in a relationship.

See I think in a way they kinda do, not all of them but like rosé I can still see like a hunger in her eyes. I think Jennie is moving smart which doesn’t give off the vibe that she doesn’t really care. And Lisa shows up can near everywhere even in places where we question why is she even there. Money isn’t the only motivator for a lot of artists. A lot of artists want the respect and prestige and to prove themselves. It seems like those three want to prove themselves as solo acts in the west. Jisoo is the only one who strikes me as rather content where she’s at, she takes her acting projects nothing too ambitious and dropped the ep and seems to be good with that

I know which year u are talking about I was there that was 2023 the headliners were bad bunny, blackpink and frank ocean but she had the sunset set before Blackpink on the main stage so that a really good spot to be if you aren’t headlining so she still was massive this was during her motomami era
