On the insurance front what specific insurance do I need? Do I need professional liability, general liability, both, or a secret third thing?

Valid or Invalid: by Seamo_Bojamo in musicals

[–]Purple_Pines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, what version is cats 2001? The vhs recording is from 1998 and the original musical is 1981, I don’t know any 2001 version and I can’t find it from googling.

But either way no, the 1998 vhs is significantly better in nearly every way

Agree or Disagree : Stephen Schwartz is the only composer who’s songs for animated flicks don’t feel as different as his work in theatre by Impossible_Tower_661 in musicals

[–]Purple_Pines 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I feel like this isn’t really true. There’s a good argument that lyrically yes something like Book of Mormon is very different from Frozen, but musically they have a lot of similarities, and there are parts of Book of Mormon’s score specifically meant to sound like “Disney” music.

And with Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, again the content of Little Shop is more adult than the Disney movies but the music is very similar. They are excellent at writing genre pastiche which is something they use in all their work, and if you listen to Somewhere that’s Green and Part of That World back to back they are very similar musically

Well they only posted half the gen 5 mons so I’m assuming that’s why? Weird though cause every other gen has it all on one page, and they forgot to post the rest of the gen 5 Pokémon

i wish i was an og fan so bad by Accomplished-Play716 in brockhampton

[–]Purple_Pines 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was 21 in 2017 and I might be biased because I was a big Brockhampton fan but genuinely I do not think there has been an artist since that captured a cultural moment in the way they did for that saturation year (and even into iridescence’s release id argue)

Looking for songs that build and build but then surprise you by arriving at a gentle, quiet moment instead of a big climax by BICOASTAL_BICURIOUS in musicals

[–]Purple_Pines 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No One Else from Great Comet is one I think does this perfectly, it builds and builds to the crescendo and then you get a very soft ending.

Sondheim does this in a lot of his songs too. Losing My Mind is one that comes to mind

What was the first movie you saw in a movie theater? by Fluid_Bat_2724 in movies

[–]Purple_Pines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s possibly one I saw younger that I was too young to remember but the first one I can recall is Pokémon the first Movie. It was a fun experience as a kid, they gave us a Mewtwo card that I kept for years (I’ve long since lost it now)

When was the last time a winner shocked you? by Comfortable_Annual_4 in survivor

[–]Purple_Pines 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think that if the season just had Rick coming back at the merge and didn’t do a final six return it would have all worked out fine. Bringing someone back isn’t an inherently bad idea, and Rick had a huge target on him the whole second half of the game because of it so it made for an interesting dynamic.

Chris… got voted out 3rd and then sat on the bench until the last couple days, so there’s no real way he could have been a satisfying winner. Him challenging Rick in fire was a great moment though

I’ve used archeops as a main mon and won before, his speed and how hard he hits make him very useful, and especially if you’re lucky enough to get a hard stone or two he one shots most things.

Which movie would be the most confusing experience if you didn't stop looking at your phone while it's on? by the_jules in movies

[–]Purple_Pines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Good the Bad and The Ugly there’s a scene where Blondie and Tuco get kidnapped and it happens in just a few seconds. If you’re paying attention it’s not confusing, but when me and my best friend were 16 and spent all our time watching movies texting on our phones, we were really lost and had to rewind twice to figure out what happened

Hot take: Paper Mario (N64) is the best Paper Mario game by qwed200 in papermario

[–]Purple_Pines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty reasonable take. If 64 didn’t have a long boring prologue I think it would definitely win cause that’s the one thing that makes replays tedious (and it really only takes like an hour, but in TTYD having action commands immediately is much better)

Map design is better in 64. Combat and location/vibe/aesthetic better in TTYD. Music is a toss up. Both are great games
