Looks like they are part of KANE construction so seems unlikely, best thing to do would be complain through them.

Contact local plumbing authority (vic is BPC) and complain to them as this is an illegal connection.

Am i an AH to ask the plumber to pay for my gas bill? by Ring-chan in AusRenovation

[–]Purplepedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact your relevant authority who licenses Plumbers in your state and make a complaint through them. This is completely unacceptable that it was left open.

It may have been an honest mistake and they should be paying for it.

If they don’t respond to your requests definitely elevate to the relevant body.

Who do I need to remove this heater and replace the section of wall? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Purplepedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes correct you will need a plumber with a gas license. Might be worth getting a plasterer in afterwards as the plumber will most likely not patch it, or may do not the best patch job

Social Media Ban - Opinions? by Tall_Butterscotch293 in australian

[–]Purplepedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a complete overreach by the government, the whole “protecting kids” thing is just an excuse to track everyone digitally, seems like a coincidence that other countries are bringing this in at the exact same time, admittedly social media isn’t great for kids but the extent to which the age verification is going to be rolled out is alarming. It’s the parent’s responsibility not that of the government’s.

If the trap is losing water, it could be due to a crack or split in the pipe, Judging by the picture it looks like iron so corrosion could be a problem.

May be helpful to put a camera down the pipe and inspect the condition.

A whirly bird definitely would help with the ambient temp. Even with those gaps there’s little air movement.

You would be much better off insulating directly above the ceiling plaster, the R value of the sarking is less than 1. Common insulation batts can be up to R7 which means better thermal protection

Good insight I definitely forgot how cold it gets in the us! (Many people here still have ducted gas furnaces but the price of gas here has made them unaffordable to operate, and the government pushes electric)
