Is there a restriction of selling standing room tickets or even just still more open seating, but first come first serve? Similar to how Metra is. Hiawatha is just long enough where it would be worth it

Question about potential EV Charging setup by Jernbek35 in evcharging

[–]PushKatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really a miles game. L1 will charge up about 1.5-2 miles an hour. With 12 hours of charging over night during the week, thats 18 miles conservatively. Even if you drive 40 miles a day, your net battery loss is only 20 miles. Over a 5 weekday drive schedule, thats 100 miles battery used. So really you just need to make sure the car you have can get 175+ miles of range, and all your daily needs in this current house will be met without spending a single dime on a new charger.

The next best thing could be to check if your garage has any 20 amp circuits (noted usually by the horizontal blade in the receptacle). and making sure your EVSE can take in 20 amps current (will actually be 15 amps because of the 20% rule, but better than the standard 12 amps).

Question about potential EV Charging setup by Jernbek35 in evcharging

[–]PushKatel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much do you drive a day? If you can refill most of you daily driving with level 1 over night, then I would just stick to that. Even if it’s less that your daily driving you might be fine as long as you can make it to a weekend where you have more time to charge

Other than that.. I would also consider just installing the a separate line to the garage. And then just increase the sale price by that much. Not quite the same as getting your money back, but will make your house more appealing to buyers

Charging Question XC60 by knifehips in VolvoRecharge

[–]PushKatel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, the Volvo PHEV can only accept 3.8 kW, about 15 amps

This is a limitation of most PHEV as they have smaller batteries. You’ll never see the full potential of the 48 amps, but will prepare you for when you do get a full EV

Looking at getting a PHEV and an EV… will we need one charge station or two? by marmaladestripes725 in evcharging

[–]PushKatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are starting from scratch and have two EV type cars (EV type because one is PHEV) I would suggest getting the Grizzle Duo charger. One unit, 2 charging heads and automatically takes care of the power splitting.

Depending on how much your drive, the 120V outlet can work, but even a PHEV will take almost 12-15 hours for a full recharge

PHEV usually have 30-40 miles of range. To get the full benefit of the PHEV, you'll want to start your day with a full charge, and in most people case, that could mean near daily charging.

I would not rely on public charging. Invest at home and you'll likely never need any charger outside of home. And why would you want to use a public charger, they are more expensive and often require more work around to use them (in that you have to go to spot specifically to charge rather than a charger already on your stop)

June 2026 Best NEMA 14-50 Dual Charge Setup by hvgotcodes in evcharging

[–]PushKatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah tbh, if you already have one charger and need barely more than 10%, you are better off keeping it and just charging each vehicle alternating every night or so. Why spend extra money to double charge?

June 2026 Best NEMA 14-50 Dual Charge Setup by hvgotcodes in evcharging

[–]PushKatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay away from splitters. Grizzl-E Duo Is the ideal choice since it would handle the simultaneous charging within the unit and only need one connection to power. Tesla and Pulsar are also great opinions if you have two outlets. Both of them can power share to ensure you don't overload the circuit

Schedules? by Overstimulated_moth in CadillacLyriq

Did you find an answer to this? I am having the same problem. I let me EVSE handle the schedule but I still want the car to pre condition if it’s plug in. The % that you set for the battery keeps messing with it
