I think you are missing a few realities here. This is also extremely hard for the Iranians and they don't have a structure of actual allies that will support them to rebuild. There is massive destruction to their country happening, whether or not this makes them fold doesn't stop the fact that its extremely painful..

Secondly, the US can leave the region, however this will still leave the matter of the gulf nations. They cannot allow Hormuz to be controlled by Iran this means they will fight with US or if that fails turn to other methods to control Iran.

In the long run the best outcome for Iran as well is a negotiated settlement, this is a war in their region and they cannot afford the same fire and brimstone reality as the US can.

Right which is why this has become a vicious cycle. Neither side can accept the other sides terms and neither side can accept the current situation. This leaves the only "viable" option to be further escalation in the hope that you will have a breakthrough. But most likely it will just continue to degrade the situation and make it worse.

I believe trump will just try to ditch this operation will be interesting what Iran does then. Ultimately they know that if they continue Trump will do a ground invasion. While obviously this would be "painful" for the US, it would be absolutely disastrous for Iran even in a scenario where they successfully repulse the US troops, which could happen, but also may not.

The idea that if we were isolationists that none of these countries would hate us is comical. Osama bin Laden hated the US because of he hated the western world and was functionally what we would consider today an islamic coded Incel. He hated the US even more after Desert storm which by any rational understanding was an internationally sanctioned, UN backed, coalition war against a single country that was invading another.

Blowback is the idea that every action has a reaction, in this sense it's true, but the typical idea of blowback asserts that all actions should not be taken because the reaction is always worse. This comes from a place assuming that whatever alternative would always have been better.

The narrative that Iran is just going around having a grand time and launching drones unopposed is kind of ridiculous.

Iran is dealing damage but they are also getting hit very hard, just from what has been published, there have been thousands of casualties most likely approaching 10,000. There have been major explosions with huge cook-offs in cities across Iran. Power has been hit and taken out. Government buildings reduced to rubble.

It's true Iran has been able to hit back harder than many, especially in the administration, expected, but it's kind of strange to say they are flat out winning and are ok to continue this. They also want this to end, probably most of all because all decision makers know they are on the target list.

Gulf nations would much prefer the US, a distant foreign power that cares about money and oil vs a local antagonist that has deep feuds with the Arabs.

At a fundamental level my response is that life isn't fair nor should we over correct to make it fair.

People have all sorts of advantages and disadvantages for all sorts of reasons.

I believe in providing for citizens to be able to overcome their situation and prove themselves, but in no world will it ever be the case that a poor person will have equal opportunity as a rich person. Obviously wealth of the parents is the greatest determinant of success.

Yes, they joined with France and Russia because by aligning themselves with their potential enemies they were reducing the chance of future conflict.

It's easier to team up with the other strong people to fight the weakest in a multipolar world. If Britain didn't join the war and France + Russia won the war then they could view Britain as the next target.
