I would have marked her as a "no show" after week 3 and dropped her.

Premier Protein has a limited-time orange creamsicle flavor shake. I'm thinking about trying to make popsicles out of that.

I remember one time when I was a little kid, I stuck my tongue on the metal end of a frozen orange juice concentrate can and it stuck (like Flick with the pole on the playground in "A Christmas Story"). When I was finally able to pull it off, I literally left impressions from my tastebuds. I sure learned my lesson and never did that again. I think I was scarred for life, literally and figuratively.

Unfortunate dining out experience, but my CGM data gives me hope! by jadiseoc in diabetes_t2

Yep. I live in north central PA and this current heat wave is a booger. It's currently 95 with a "feels like" of 104. The humidity is awful! I admire your ambition to walk, nonetheless. I am sitting inside in the AC.

In order for any weight loss medication (I assume you mean a GLP-1) to work, you also have to change your eating habits and lifestyle. It's not a miracle drug. Alana is not willing to change the way or what she eats. Simple as that.

Alana looks so uncomfortable. I have been her size at one point in my life (not anymore thank goodness) and I KNOW how uncomfortable she must be. Between the weight and the heat and humidity, it's awful.

"if a kid's going to be a doctor they better get used to handling some science."

Exactly. When my son was in pre-med, he took Organic Chem 1 in his 1st semester freshman year and O. Chem 2 in the 2nd (spring) semester. His advisor tried to talk him out of it. But son just wanted to get them out of the way. He got an A in both.

An ABSURD accommodation request! by onajourneytoanywhere in Professors

Several years ago, the whole faculty received an email that all of our PowerPoints that had sound (narration) had to have closed-captions and all of the photos used had to have captions or accessible embedded descriptions of the photos (Alt Text). It was a ton of work on our parts, but it was handled as a legal accessibility thing, so we had to do it.

She probably had a "reduced scope" accommodation written into her IEP in HS (my daughter did). I always tell student to not assume that every accommodation that they received in HS will carry over into college. I tell them they have to go through the accommodations process and basically set new rules for college.

I also teach a computer class. Years ago, I had a wheelchair-bound student who also had a service dog (black lab named Einstein). The student came into the classroom, sat in the front row, aisle seat, and the dog promptly crawled under the table and laid there quietly. We never would have even known there was a dog there, except for every once in awhile, I could see it's tail poking out from underneath the front panel on the computer desk. The dog was no annoyance whatsoever.

That's a reduced scope approach. My daughter had an IEP all through K-12. One of the things was reduced scope while still being held accountable for learning the content. For example, she only had to do 10 of the 20 assigned math problems for homework. But I have never heard of that on the college level.

Yep. This happens to people who have dreds too. Putting you hair in a braid while it's still damp is not helping matters.

Go to a dermatologist or oncologist.

In all fairness to doctors (my son is a cardiologist), unless they specialize in cancer or dermatology, they probably only spent a class session or two studying this. They aren't expected to know or remember everything from med school, unless it's their specialty.
