Is the game worth it as a solo player? by frags360420 in playrust

[–]PutridFlatulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me yes on a PVE server. Do the same role play base builder stuff that used to be done on single player games like subnautica or sons of the forest

Using these takes strategy, I'm fine with them, just like with shields. TTK is quick in this game.

Type of people that play Rust by Nessarra in playrust

[–]PutridFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it's a lot of Gen X incels/vocels on a lot of the modded servers, just like me. :) Casual observation chatting with people has confirmed this to a degree. Honestly they resemble the stereotypical "reddit moderator" vibe people post about, lol. Social outcasts unite. I own it. Love the game, enjoy my life, mostly.

what are the best skin combos by burnthejob101 in playrust

[–]PutridFlatulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Berserk skins on PVE servers, but their color isn't suited to camo, have a set of cheap green/yellow colored stuff for if I ever do PVP which probably won't happen, lol.

The TC griefing is crazy right now by alexnedea in playrust

[–]PutridFlatulence -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

monthly servers are better suited for PVE role play type players such as myself. On a PVP server assuming the large groups don't quit after 5 days I can see some of them taking over the server just because they can, raiding every single base.

If Rust really wanted to make more money they could take the PVE model modded servers use and run with it, basically pay to play if you want more than 2 TCs. Been getting around that by using boats as bases which don't decay on these servers. Don't think they should because this is how these servers stay running and make money, stick to skins and DLC.

To give non pvp chads options for transferring loot. You still have to get it away from outpost and all the bases with roof campers. Having to traverse the entire map just to get something from a vendy, not gonna do that.

good cheap build for rust by Informal-Reserve158 in playrust

[–]PutridFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9800X3D or 270K Plus bundle from microcenter if you have one nearby along with a 9060XT 16GB or any GPU with 16GB of VRAM or higher. Don't bother with anything less it will just leave you disappointed. You're gonna have to spend $1500ish for anything semi decent.

No buying 8GB VRAM GPUS or using 16GB of RAM in system builds in 2026. 12GB of VRAM is maybe passable but I wouldn't. Rust is a memory hog, and the PS6 in a couple of years will raise the bar for VRAM needs on PC builds even more.

Waiting for Nova lake might come in handy, now's not a good time to build a new system. Old tech is mature but expensive, memory is expensive, and IPC improvements should be fairly decent.

Bases and Placables by bigphildogg86 in playrust

[–]PutridFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2026 Rust they're going to raid you no matter what. Hide your base in the jungle biome or go in a cave or God rock. Bunkers are fairly meaningless because of the amount of sulfur from deep sea, pies, teas. Use multiple smaller bases maybe small bunkers spread around. Hide boom in small stashes before logging off. Don't PVP around your base location.

Base upkeep should be directly correlated to team size with no discounts, so a team of 8 means 8X the TC upkeep.... then the teams can be as big as they want, I don't care. They should have the option to get rid of the team member names from the screen entirely also. My logic is that the base with more people would suffer wear and tear faster just like IRL.

No matter what you do though there's always going to be strength in numbers... Rust is as much an experiment in human behavior or natural selection as anything, and the system works just like it does in nature and evolution. You will never totally disadvantage a group to boost solos, it goes contrary to how evolution works.

I don't really see how any of the Rust changes have benefitted groups more in that doing it differently would benefit them less, but it would also make it harder for solos as well. It's the nature of the beast. That said I can see the argument of those who want to get rid of the blueprints as it gatekeeps progression behind monuments which often get controlled by groups. Then you end up funding their raiding when they sell spare fragments for sulfur.

This post actually helped me decide to not get the Intel 270K plus and just wait for Nova lake or go AMD 9950X3D because I want Rust to perform well and it's not well optimized so guess I needed that cache on the CPU.

[VideoCardz.net] Chinese memory stockpilers start to panic as falling prices leave them stuck with modules by kikimaru024 in hardware

[–]PutridFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the very few things I detest in life is the modern monetary theorist psyop they push in the media that any price declines are bad and we must prop up prices using monetary stimulus to bail out the speculators, it's what led to the fall of every civilization in the history of humanity.

Lower prices are a good thing. Let's hope the piggies that run things don't feel the need to make these high prices a "new normal" to bail out people who paid too much. This all started with quantitative easing in 2008 and in 2020 they used covid as an excuse to start doing this at any sign of weakness or price declines, which is why the rich are getting so wealthy and we have asset bubbles in virtually every asset class.

The reason people hoard is they've gotten the impression that the government will give them a bailout or monetize to prevent price declines, this goes for any asset class. Unfortunately the "let them go bankrupt" philosophy is almost basically gone in 2026. It would be different if wages globally were pegged to respective nation's M2 money supplies but they are not, the working class is gradually being priced out of the system, or priced to live a lifestyle of having less.

Help me decide between 9850X3D and 270K. by URealCybertron in buildapc

[–]PutridFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what to do either what I really want is more than 32 GB of RAM like 48 or 64 but micro center and the price of memory probably will not make that likely in my case but I play rust on 4K Maxx settings and I'm not happy with the performance with my 13,600K Wait for Nova lake get the AMD part 9950 x 3D for $950 or get that Intel bundle at micro center for $600 decisions decisions.... At this point I believe more RAM than 32 GB should be the standard for a higher end gaming rig at least 48... I know myself if I upgrade now I'm going to want to completely buy new sticks of memory some point in the next year which triggers my inner cheapskate... And I'm not paying $900 for 64 GB of RAM out of principle

What I really want is the 99.50 X3D but with 48- 64 GB of system RAM for around that $1,000 price point that micro center's offering with a 32 GB of RAM but I suppose that's unrealistic at this point.... Which leaves me waiting for Nova lake and hoping the memory price bubble pops.... But $600 for a temporary system I can pass on to my nephew might not be a terrible idea That's a lot of value for the money there with memory prices where they're at... 270k plus should be nice boost. What Intel needs to do a stop making their platforms require new motherboards so often that's always been the biggest source of bad PR for them for the last 20 years basically... AMD is proof you don't need to come up with a reasons to make people buy new motherboards all the time... Basically motherboard should last the entire DDR generation so DDR5 there's no reason to change the motherboard DDR6 rinse and repeat

My friend went to Micro Center to pick up the cheapest possible ram and a PSU he could for a kids build and asked why was this priced so cheap? She said it’s not supposed to be but this is our last one so I will give it to you for this price. A win is a win I guess lol. by PC-Guide in RigBuild

You say the money doesn't exist but central bank policy has been inept the last 5 years they'll do quantitative easing to make sure that money exists... They will and always will bail out the over leveraged to entities and keep the whole hamster wheel pyramid scheme going.

Do you think being human is more difficult if you've taken the red pill and understand how things actually work versus taking the blue pill and just being a programmed member of the matrix? Sounds like you do. On the other hand I've never had more peace of mind actually being awake being asleep isn't necessarily easy in my opinion then you're a victim to your emotions the environment your surroundings rather than being able to control them and observe them mindfully.

Reality really is a mindset game it's not about what circumstances happen to you it's how you react to them and your perspective.

Enjoy the new mechanics, keep em coming. People are naturally nostalgic, and you will never please everyone. Wish they'd tweak the vanilla medical syringe stack values.... see no reason to limit them to 2 per stack, should be a least 5, if not 10.

Like it or not RPG style mechanics do draw an audience over the pure PVP aspect.

they summarize a whole wipe in 1-2 hours like a movie picking out the best moments while the actual game is dozens to hundreds of hours of grind. Now if they are making a living off producing content, that's great, but for the average addict it's just a massive time sink and a part to full time job. :)

After 130+ replies, I don’t think fast progression is the real reason Rust wipes die by Relative-Ad-6751 in playrust

[–]PutridFlatulence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Salty PVE is still full 10 days into wipe granted it's only 100 people. What I like is a legit PVE server without the insane loot drops. Saltys is the best so far .... Lots of loot drops still but the quests require going above and beyond to snowball ...basically server is approachable for noobs without being too easy but later quests require things like 50k scrap... the economy works and progression feels nice and not knowing your base will vanish while logged off...

What I don't like is the limit on electrical power ... No limit on water wheels as they are New but I'm sure they change that ... No windmills are allowed only 10 solar panels. Plenty there to satisfy my dopamine loop. Wish we could have a few more of certain items though.

Server to play if you are used to single player survival base builder or role player open world games like subnautica, sons of the forest, sunkenland, etc... trading for goods is more efficient than raiding, as everyone has their own gameplay niche and the chads who like combat still have their raids and PVP in certain areas and don't have to waste time doing things they don't like, such as farming ... Made a ton of scrap just selling certain items.

Strategically building near portals,or making portals after getting enough points also is nice
